How to encourage video testimonials

Hi,

I'd like to get video testimonials for my course.

Since it is against FTC regulations to offer a return for a testimonial, what is a good way to encourage people to send me such videos?

My customers seem very willing to write text-testimonials, but videos are harder to create so people are less likely to offer them.

  • Hi...

That seems a bit odd, as for example -- you have telemercials, etc -- that have plenty of (solicited/paid) video testimonials... I believe (from what I have read) that as long as your are honest (and in the case of particular users, include an (obvious) disclaimer that results may be a-typical, etc and that this is just results of particular users, etc), then you should be ok.

You could always include a message in your e-mail to customers (as soon as they purchase) asking for a video testimonial that you can place on their sales page, etc. Providing you have significant sales (and good support), some people will do that if they are reminded a few times.

I am pretty sure you can ask for testimonials as long as you do provide the fact that they are not typical and place some heavy disclaimers on there.

I'd have a contest to see who could send you the best video or have the best story of how you helped them. I bet you could collect a bunch of cool stories. Then offer a prize (not money) but something that would interest them, for the best video. Hope that helps!!
