Be careful with your email list...

Hey Warriors,

I just made a boo-boo with my email list.

I won't go into details, but let's just say that I used a copywriting technique that I wasn't sure if I should have.

I've been seeing a new strategy around the web lately, and thought I'd give it a shot to see what my results were like.

Well, within 10 minutes I got two emails from people who felt it was something "tricky".

Needless to say, I'm going to say "SORRY!" tomorrow with a nice gift.

So please, think about what you're sending to your list before you do. The people on our list are who feed us, so treat them like they want to be treated - with respect and honesty.

Yes, good point. People on a list should be treated as if you are talking with them in person. I think many people (easily) forget that people on a list are not just a 'number' to be 'sold' to. (While that does work to some degree, it is easier to use honey to attract rather than vinegar, so developing a relationship is always the best idea.)

Yeah, thanks for the post. Sorry you had to learn that lesson the hard way. I agree with IS, you definitely want to treat them well and make sure you are treating them all like they are your best customers.

Exactly. I too sometimes forget that it's not all just about trying new ideas... gotta keep the people behind the computer in mind too - they're full people just like us. Offend them and you're going to lose their trust.

  I hope not though, I'd rather appease the masses than try to bring new subscribers in - much easier I do believe.
