You probably could, but with the amount of effort required to tweak WP you would be better off building a custom ecommerce platform.

You may want to check out Magento as well.

I'm not sure if it would be possible.. or I mean you could but that would be a heck of a lot of tweaking.

I agree. I might just be better to outsource this rather that try to do it yourself.

I agree, if you don't know how to build something then you should look at it getting outsourced. There are so many people just licking their chops waiting for you to call them. Look into that.

That seems to be a well coded site...

I have customized a few Wordpress Commerce sites like this:
EauParfume | Inhale Beauty. Top Brand Names. Top Fragrances. Free Shipping. Lowest Price

Here's an example of a product page:
    http://www.eauparfume.com/bondno9ban...m-spray-3-3-oz

I still have work to do:

It is styled off of this theme:

The Furniture Store - WordPress eCommerce Shop - WordPress - ThemeForest

That site is using something called PrestaShop, but you could do something similar with Wordpress and a WP shopping cart system.

    Anything is possible with Wordpress.

I agree with Greg... absolutely anything is possible with WordPress. In fact, I have always encouraged folks who are looking to build a site to Almost Always use WP for SEO purposes alone. I'm sure you already know this, but the SEO advantages you get with WP is worthy of switching in and of itself. I do however disagree with the person who suggested Magento. Even though, it is an open source solution and has flexibility the amount of configuring and customization you would need to do will be a bit overwhelming and highly technical. I hope this this helps.

      Best Wishes,

      Wendy

      LOL

I did look at the source, but on one of the e-shop pages instead of the home page and didn't see the "WP" portion.

I have had my coffee now, so I am more alert. hehe

Another option I suppose is to get the popular ecommerce business course that is Nicheblueprint 2.0.

With that not only u get the training and many tools/resources to get u up running your own ecommerce biz, but u also get a ecommerce store script as part of package. And its very easy to install on server.

I mean thats one option, so u r getting best of both worlds i.e training and store script to get your store online.

As Istvan pointed out, this site is made with WP so yes for sure you can do it.

All you need is a competent theme developer who can code the appropriate page templates, post styles and so on. It's quite straight forward (not easy mind you) for someone that knows what they are doing.

If a developer offers you to much of a low price on such a theme though, be wary as it is a relatively in depth job as far as theme creation goes.

If you have a large slideshow like that though, I would recommend making sure you have admin access to directly add or remove images from the sequence. You don't want to have to keep re-exporting new versions of a flash movie all the time.

For the actual cart itself, the easiest way is to just integrate e-junkie rather than trying to add e-commerce to WordPress yourself and having to deal with security issues.

If you go with e-junkie all the developer has to do is add a field to your post area where you can add your buy link, and have a button somewhere on the page with a view cart link. I've done this before and it works great.

What a beautiful theme - according to PrestaShop.com 33,000 e-commerce sites use that theme.

    Thanks for the thread!

The site is cool but you need more time and hardwork to come with a site like that. Better outsourcing if you really keen in it which can save alot of your time to do other stuffs online

well.. I am guessing the reason they are using presta for the shop is because I think you really need an eccomerce platform vs wp plugins for a serious shop.

I have been playing around with wp ecommerce etc.. and to me it seems limiting. bad seo as you cant change custom meta tags on title etc..

I did find a good plug in that uses custom posts as product pages and you just install a add to cart button. Works with seo plug ins.. but the problem I am hitting is organizing all my products and categories in the wp admin area is tough.

Prestacart seems like a good option and I may go with it myself and design a matching theme to my wordpress blog

Yeah, What Istvan said. I though it was a WP site right off. I've seen some pretty slick shopping cart systems for WP. You may want to look at this site for a WP e commerce solution:

This question has been answered to death but I wanted to throw in my 2c. As a web developer who does a LOT of work in Wordpress this type of theme is very doable. Any Wordpress developer should be able to knock this out pretty quickly. Wordpress 3.0 added custom post types, combined with custom fields doing an e-commerce site got a lot easier.

That said (and being a long time Wordpress fan) I have always suggested using a real e-commerce platform to do e-commerce. Life is just easier when you use the right tool for the job instead of hacking away at something to make it work.
