Your thoughts on turn key sites?

Looking to invest some money on assets that will generate me a few hundred dollars a month each with little interaction and I don't mind paying for those sites whether they are a few hundred or over a thousand dollars.

Is anyone experienced in how to ensure that the sites are legit or what needs to be specified before buying?

If you're sure you can get targeted traffic to these turn-key sites, then go for it.

Most often than not, people buy high quality turn-key sites but failed to generate any income since they couldn't get traffic.

Turn key sites are okay but you need to get to know the niche first. Do some keyword research so you know the people you are selling to. You can automate these by outsourcing. Just get people to work on your content generation or link building and you will turn any kind of site into gold.

The problem with turn key sites is that they are already preloaded with the exact same information as 5,000 other sites. The only one making money is the seller. If you want to make some money without investing a penny, try publishing some Hub pages. It is free to join, and you make money from the adsense links. Of course, you will need an adsense account. The more hubs and the more interesting, the more visits and corresponding clicks. Heck, I made $30 in about six months with just 42 hubs.

If you want to be more prolific and gain followers, you can publish one per day, they are not long at all, about as long as an article, really.

hmmm, as an alternative, what do you suggest? What I am looking for is more of an online investment rather than an online job.

Not all "turnkey" sites are the same. It all depends on the specs. If I were buying the site, I would look for a site that was getting good naturalized traffic.

A good example of ones I was looking at was receiving roughly 200 page views a day due to established backlinks to high traffic sites.
