Help with Video please

I recently purchased a number of WSO's.... all with PLR video. (all great by the way!)... I find myslef needing to edit these videos and am at a loss on how to proceed.

I thought it would be as simple as dragging the AVI files into Windows Movie Maker but that doesn't seem to work. WMM seems to want to treat the videos as if they are audio files.... At least that's what I THINK is going on. The story board remains empty while I EXPECTED it to be populated with individual video frames.

Any advice on where to go for help/tutorials or tools would be appreciated.

    Hi Chris,

    Have you tried Camtasia?
Download their Trail version and see if it works for you!

Camtasia Studio, TechSmith's Screen Recording Software

I recommend camtasia as well. What exactly do you want to do with the plr videos?

If you want put a watermark on them then use Watermark Master! It's the best.

LOL... Great question. I guess that depends on what CAN be done. I was hoping that I could append video frames and audio to the front and back and maybe swap out some video from the middle without disturbing the associated audio.

Seems like it should work.... : )

Yep, Camtasia seems to be much more friendly when it comes to editing various video file types. You could also look for a video file converter and change it to something Windows Movie Maker prefers.

Thanks guys!!! Camtasia was the right suggestion.

One final question and I'll let this thread die. Is it possible (I've tried and can't figure it out) to swap out a segment of video and leave the associated audio in place... over the new segment of video.

        Hello Chris,

The answer to your last question is ..yes you can separate the audio from the video but you need the correct tools. The latest version of Camtasia..ver.6.0.3 will do that nicely.

But first, WMM should do what you want as far as splitting the videos and adding stuff to the beginning and ending of your masterpiece...but it depends on what file types you are working with AND I've found it also depends on what computer system you are on.

Vista 64 bit has a version of WMM that does not play nice with AVI but the 32 bit system handles AVI with no problems...as an example.

So what file types do you have and what system are you working with and I'll put together a quick video tutorial for you.

I'll give you the Warrior price...FREE

Look forward to hearing back from you Chris. Maybe this will help someone else at the same time.

          Wow!!! Steve, thanks so much!

I'm running Windows Vista Business SP2 and the files are in AVI format.

          Cheers,

Chris, since you've already made some investment here you would be better off IMHO purchasing some proper video editing software.

Sony vegas is fantastic value and will let you do all sorts of things with your videos. Do a search for bill myers who has loads of info about video editing. I've used his dvd training and it is great.

Video is fast becoming the weapon of choice for most internet marketing so any investment you make should give a return in the future.

Yes, you are exactly correct. Am trying to be systematic about it though. Will be attending Kevin Riley's Video workshop and reviewing the products he recommends. Already downloaded the free Camtasia trial and am trying to noodle my way through that. Don't mind investing at all.... Just want to get what I need... first time.

Your post present a new question though... What differentiates Camtasia and Vegas and do I need both or just one? What else...?

    Hello Chris,

Well I see that you now have Camtasia Studio so you probably do not need this anymore but here it is just in case..

Here is a short video on Windows Movie Maker:

And here is a short video on how to convert your AVI into WMV..if you want to - but with Camtasia Studio you will be able to use the AVI. So this video will just be for info sake

I prefer Camtasia Studio over Sony Vegas but Vegas has more bells & whistles and along with that there is a little more of a learning curve.

If you decide to go the way of Sony Vegas, you might be able to save some money by purchasing and older version of the software from eBay or the like and then purchase an upgrade from Sony..Just an idea.

    Anyhoo..

    Talk to you later Chris.

      Steve,

You rock! Not only did you answer all the questions I had aksed.... you addressed a handful of ones that I hadn't even bothered to ask yet. I should be able to go directly to work now with Camtasia. It turns out that was about 85% there and didn't realize it.

      See you in the workshop!

      Cheers,
      chris
