The Whole PDC 1099 Panic

I have a question. I sent out an email to my affiliates asking for their 1099 info for my CPA for the PDC affiliates after all those warnings.

How does this work for non US residents? I have quite a few of those affiliates - how do I handle that info? Some say they don't need to send it. Others are asking me.

Heck if I know!?

    Hello Tiffany,

The overwhelmingly obvious answer here is ... consult with a qualified accountant on the issue as the answer to that question could vary based on your business structure.

But, if you're willing to "risk it" ... W-9 for anyone who is a US resident, or otherwise liable for paying taxes on US earned income, or W-8Ben for anyone who is not a US resident or is not liable on taxes.

And before you ask, yes, there could be someone living in the US, who isn't liable to pay US taxes ... which is why you need to consult with an account. ( and before anyone says I'm full of it, it's not common, but when you've paid over 10,000 unique affiliates, odd things come up )

  • I give my accountant a name, and address, a social security number, and how much I pay them. They take care of the rest.
