320 exact searches worth it?

Hey guys, just starting out in the IM market and giving the micro niche blogging strategy a shot. I found a three word keyword that only gets 320 exact searches and 880 phrase searches a month (according to google adword's keyword tool.)
While it's not much, the .com name is open, there are 8 sponsored links, and according to traffic travis very few of the top sites do sufficient back linking.
Just wondering what you guys think about the situation. Thank you very much for your help, and hopefully I'll be able to work off my college debt!

Sounds like you want to make a new blog with this as the main blog keyword?

320 sounds low for that in general, but im the IM niche, unless you have a lot of resources, its real difficult to rank well for ANY keyword. If this is the best you can find, I thin it would be worth doing, but make sure you can find other keywords that you can make specific posts, pages, or web2.0 properties about, since one 320-search keyword won't cut it alone.

I would go for it if your buying a domain name why not? You could always build up from their just build some backlinks which shouldn't take long and you can grab a 1 listing in no time at all. This way you will have free traffic while your working on going after other keyword terms related to your niche by optimizing your site.

I say go for it plus there are usually more searches than what Google tells you so it might even be a bit higher.

    Goodluck!

If you really find that niche as extremely unique then go for it... You can add enforcement keywords to your main keywords then... Use google's wonder wheel to expand your keyword reach..

    Hi aaron,

Dont know if it worth buying an actual domain for. If it really does onyl get 320 searches per month, and the other top pages aren't optimized for it, you might just want to optimize a page on one of your other domains (if you have any).

In one of my niches, my top converting keyword only gets around 220 searches per month, but it is "Keyword Keyword Business" and I sell a guide on how to start such a business. So it converts really well.

So it kind of depends on what you are going to offer them, and whether or not that keyword is a buying keyword (like the example above).

But I dont suggest buying a domain name to get 320 searches per month, you wont even get all of that anyways, its something like 50% of searchers will click the first result, so it is best to expect and plan for half of what is actually searched.

Another factor to take into account would be what your commission for said product you are selling would be. If you are going to make a hundred or more per sale, then depending on the various factors it might be worth investing some time into. With that said, more time spent in research of keywords will end up with you finding some that are searched a lot with minimal competition. Good luck.

Thanks all for the quick replies! based on what I've read, If I can't find a higher search volume keyword I'll give it a go. I suppose the worst that can happen is i lose 10 bucks and several hours of time.
Thanks again for the replies! Nice to know there are always people to ask for advice!
