They seem expensive though. I see some good offers here in WP, but I don't know how good they are. So, if there is anyone here who used those services and can direct me to the right person, that would be great.

I can write for you if the price is right. I am not a expert writer by no means but I can write pretty well. I actually go over my articles for spelling and grammar errors before sending them to the buyers. A lot of cheap writers don't do this, do not know English and even sell non unique content sometimes.

Good luck finding reliable and cheap. It's not impossible, but it's not easy. Reliable and reasonably priced is much easier to find.

I agree Adam. Reliable and cheap is a little too much to ask for. You are going to have to go through a lot of writers to find a truly good one that is actually GOOD.

Is 3$ an article (500 word articles) ok for you, because you'd have trouble finding that anywhere else...as I can see that the suggestions above are still above this price.

As long as you want more than 40 articles (bulk packages), I have a writer who can get on that ASAP.

Define reliable. Can produce on a schedule, but quality isn't a major factor? In that case, reliable and cheap isn't terribly difficult to find.

Factor in quality, and you're going to have to do some digging.

Reality is that once someone finds their ideal writer, they don't want to refer them, because it could slow down production for their own projects. Make sense?

Check the WSO and Warriors for Hire boards. Pick three and send them each a small order. If one of the three meets your expectations, send them a second larger order. If it doesn't work out to your satisfaction, go try three more. You'll eventually get to where you need to be.

As a writer I have to say that when somebody complains that sites like odesk and getafreelancers are too expensive, a giant red flag goes up. Some of the rates on those sites are insultingly low!

It would help if you posted more about your project. How many articles do you need? Is it a one time thing or something on going? What is your budget? This gives us a better idea of what you expect and will help you cut through all of the "i rite gud 4 u 4 cheep 4 shoore!" replies that you are inevitably getting.

Check out the WSO and Warrior for Hire sections here. I am lucky with rentacoder. No matter which resource you use, you have to do your own selection. There are good and bad writers everywhere, you just have to know where and how to look for them. Looking for writers is like looking for employees for your business. That is how serious it is. Once you find good ones, keep them happy, ie: pay promptly ;-)

OK, my appologies. I should have been more clear about my budget and provide more information.

I need articles to submit to ezine articles, so 250 to 300 words long. For a start I want to purchase 20 articles. At the moment I have $20 to spend on articles. I am aware this won't buy me all 20 articles, but I am open to offers.

I remember when you had to pay $1 per 100 words for a decent article. Economy must be getting worse as it looks like $.60 per 100 words is now getting to be the going rate. Probably getting time to start outsourcing some of my content, although depending on your niche it can be difficult.

Ok, back to the topic at hand. My advice: try the writers here as they are going to be best and most experienced available anywhere. Try a few out with small orders and then move on to larger orders with the ones that you like the best.

Check warrior forum, tons of legit writers. You can actually tell how well the members write by the topic and display of their content.

The only way to get "cheap" is to go offshore. The only way to get quality and cheap is to go offshore, hire someone who has great english skills, and train them how to write the way you want them to. You can train on style, NOT on english spelling / grammar / sentence construction.

I hire my own writers.
Check out my blog (sig file) and you'll see lots of stuff about how I've done this.

Too, too true. There's an old saying in media. You can have it fast, you can have it cheap, or you can have it good. Pick one.

Good work takes time to do. Writers still have to make enough money to pay their bills. People who write articles will either charge a livable wage and dedicate a reasonable amount of time to each and every article written, or they will write cheap articles and cram as many into an hour as possible.

When it is your brand that is attached to those articles, which writer do you want speaking for you?

EXPENSIVE? At FREELANCER? Where exactly were you looking at? Or better yet, what do you consider expensive? In my experiences with the freelancing sites there are LOTS of people from third world countries who claim to be GREAT writers, offer to write for $1 and what they turn in is terrible. Hey, even one of my teenage daughters can pull off something better than what I have encountered there.

Lesson learned? You get what you pay for. So TODAY I can gladly say that I would much rather spend MUCH MORE than that buck and get GOOD quality articles than waste time and money just to get cheap services.:rolleyes:

HHHMMM, maybe, but I am not too convinced. I rather spend more money and help a fellow American who is also looking to make ends meet, than spend it on someone that is not going to give me quality and I will still have to edit.

I don't know about writters, but for a reliable and cheap article writer you could try oDesk or one of the other freelance sites and look for someone from an English-speaking country who has just joined the site and has no 'runs on the board'. Good writers will often start out cheap just for the positive feedback, for testimonials, or as a marketing exercise.

If they're good they won't stay cheap for long though, because they'll be swamped with work from buyers who are willing to pay for quality.

You could try posting an article writing job in Amazon Mechanical Turk.

You get to set the price, the guidelines, and the time limit. If someone submits an article to you that doesn't seem up to par, then you have the option of contacting the worker so that they can make the necessary changes, or you can simply reject the article so another writer can have a stab at it.

If you're asking for a 500+ word article for $0.15, you're probably not going to get any hits- the same thing goes if you only give the person 25 minutes to research and write the article- but there are actually plenty of people willing to write a 300-500 word article for a few dollars.

Just a thought in case you want to check it out. (I've never posted jobs there before, but I actually used to write articles for people on Mechanical Turk for awhile for very cheap, until I realized that I could make much more by writing for myself.)

So, you say you're looking for a good article writer, then complain that the ones you found on places like oDesk are too high. You want 20 articles, 250-300 words each, and have a budget of $20. Right?

Perhaps you've seen this before, but you have to choose two out of three:

Good
Cheap
Fast

Pick two ONLY. If you're not in a hurry, you could actually meet your budget.
