Squidoo: A Do or A Don't?

So I keep seeing ppl yakkin' away about Squidoo....

Is it an effective tool (like Twitter) to drive some traffic to your site? Does anyone else here use it for that purpose?

I've had some success with Squidoo, and it does seem that Google ranks the pages pretty high, but, like everything else, it take a lot work. Since it's free, why not put up a few pages and see how it works for you?

Squidoo works but the real key is your long tail term and the links going to it. Some of my squidoo pages get absolutely abysmal traffic...others get 50-100 a day. Some convert like crazy. Others don't convert at all. It is life.

You have to work squidoo like any other website. Get links, research keywords and optimize the heck out of it.

If it doesn't work for ya, you make it a link farm to link other websites with.

I agree, I have lenses that send hundreds of people to my websites, and I have lenses that don't get 1 hit a month. I just completely depends on the niche, your keyword research, doing some basic SEO techniques, building links to the lens.

BUT ~ once you get it done, it's done. I have some lenses that have been sending traffic to my sites with no more additional work for years.

So why not try it out. If you are really interested in learning about how to make Squidoo and other free sites work for you I wrote a review of One Week Marketing here. Online Marketing Strategy ~ One Week Marketing | Internet Marketing Strategy for Moms It's a great course and will show you how to do it.

      Good luck,

Squidoo has been ok to me all and all. If you have not read the $5 traffic tip report I would suggest you check it out.

I started messing around with the keyword techniques the book talks about and they where working fairly well for me. However my marketing ADHD has got the best of me and I have not touched my leses / hub pages in about a month.

Anybody know if the techniques in that report are still working good? I have heard a couple of peeps saying they are slipping.

Aside from the above spoken, the one real downside to Squidoo is the sheer amount of click-away distractions that come stock on every lens.

To that extent, you'd be better off optimizing and driving traffic with a wordpress blog.

Squidoo, like any website has to have good content to keep your viewer on the lens, just a handful of adds is not going to work. Just my thoughts, right or wrong, I am new at all this.

I absolutely agree ~ with both of you lol.
There are tons of ways for people to click off your lens other than where you want them to go.

AND I've noticed good content and a bold call to action can lead people right where you want them.

There are some great call to action modules, like "the most important thing" module, "the big arrow" module.

There are definitely ways you can grab the readers attention and move them where you want them.

Yes Squidoo is good. I've been using it when it first came out but it tends to get boring at times for me. I suggest using Squidoo and Hubpages together.

Someone was talking about flipping lens but I never got thier name. I have tons of lenses.
