Using Only PayPal? How much are you losing?

Imagine this:

You're at a widget store. You've got your widget picked picked out and you're ready to go. You're not super excited to be buying it, but you're going through with it anyway. You get in line to pay...

And then they ask you to switch lines and go to the next teller.

Now if you were just a little apprehensive about buying that widget, your reasons for hesitating just got amplified. You now have more time to think about it, and you've been distracted in the check-out process. You no longer think like "here I am with my widget". You think like "here I am about to buy a widget".

You might not change your mind. You might go through with the transaction. But what if the widget store did this to EVERY customer? Their sales would drop...I can guarantee.

This is exactly what you're doing if you only accept paypal.

Yes...paypal people are used to switching to a paypal page during the checkout process. So it's not a speed-bump for them.

But people who are used to online CC forms are going to think twice. They might go through with it, they might not. But if you break the buying process by switching sites, you're asking for less sales.

My Advice--offer them both. Merchant accounts might take a little more, but they're worth it in the end.

On several physical products I've sold, I first launched a test period using only PayPal. Later, after adding the CC choice, sales ALWAYS more than doubled.

Doesn't Paypal accept both CC and Paypal Account payments? Ive been using it for my product since the beginning.
Moreover, Clickbank is also a good way of secure payments. You get the advantage of CC form as well as Paypal.
But, the point you made of "site switching" is quite valid
