I use MS Expressions Web for most internet work. For making sales pages and such I use NVU because it doesn't use a lot of style sheets which makes copy and paste much easier.

Dreamweaver/Photoshop is what my choice is, and probably what most of the designers use.

I use dreamweawer. Although you should note that it would be a tad simpler and easier to make sales pages on NVU, as dmpeterson has mentioned.

I use Adobe Dreamweaver on a Mac. Awesome app - and really easy to use! I had never designed a website before and picked it up in just a couple of days...

    Definitely recommend it...

Funny - I learned HTML from Mr. Dennis Gaskill 10 or 12 years ago. I used Notepad then, but I've since moved up the ladder to win32pad Gotta stay up to date, right ?? LOL

lol - that is funny. I actually have Dreamweaver, I just never use it. For editing existing pages, it's just so easy to right-click the page in my browser and view the source code, which opens in Notepad where you can quickly make the edits. For making new pages I just right-click view source of an existing page and use it for a template, then save it with a different name. It's simple and fast.

I have other text editors too, but . . . I know, I admit it, I'm old school.

I may be out of the box here but I use Wordpress and Blogger. To me FrontPage was a pain (changed my code), Dreamweaver was a cluttered mess, XsitePro had too many tinker toys which led me to playing around endlessly. I'm lazy, simple and want to focus majorly on marketing products not tinkering with HTML software.

Now if you want to be strictly a web designer all the pro's I know swear by Dreamweaver.

For the past few years, I have bought few web design software. So far has my hands on XSitePro, FrontPage, Dreamweaver, NVU, and Wordpress. All are great, but my favourite ones are Wordpress and FrontPage. The combination of these 2 really give me everything that I need to build a website

For newbie, I suggest start with either FrontPage/NVU first to learn how to build static website that easier to manage. Then learn Wordpress, which is really powerful consider that there are tons of plugins available to extend its functionality..

I have tried an entire spectrum of web design packages / solutions and here is my take:

The only free option worth it's salt is WORDPRESS

The only paid option worth it's salt is DREAMWEAVER

    It's that simple.

Don't waste time looking at anything else!

Dreamweaver is a cool tool, though as a pedant, manual editing with a text editor (EditPlus) is my preferred method.

Glad I'm not the only dinosaur in existence.

I use wordpress for a few things, but when I want a particular look for a site nothing beats an old fashioned text editor. There's just some things that software won't do for you.

        arachnophilia, wordpress, xsitepro, coffeecup

All have their strengths and weaknesses and I have found excellent uses for all of them.

        Need an instant site, Wordpress.

Want to have all your pages feature the same design without calling up a template each time - XSP

Like the cost of a free editor - Arachnophilia

All around web editing without the cost or necessity of learning DW - Coffeecup.
