Alternative to the Ezine Gestapo?

Hey all. I've written articles on cancer and had hit my limit to be upgraded. One article they sent back because it only contained information and no tips. So I redid it. Then they sent the second part back because the first part wasn't approved yet. And they tell me that because of this I get to do ANOTHER 25 submissions before I can be considered for platinum. I know they are trying to hawk their premium, but give me a break. I was NOT self promoting except in the resource box. Can I appeal in some way? I'm very frustrated right now, as this does NOT seem a good reason to deny an upgrade. And at the rate ezine articles moves for review I'll be waiting even longer.......any one got some advice>

There's nothing you can do about it, but it's not really that big a deal. I used to get my articles approved faster on basic than I did on platinum.

I know people who've not been given platinum before 100 articles - each time you get 25 if you get even one rejected it's back to the drawing board with another 25!

Faster on basic....Any reason why? Is ezines the only place to go if you want exposure?

No reason why, everyone seems to have a different experience when it comes to acceptance times. I know people on Platinum who get their articles accepted within 48 hours, and for others it can take up to 7 or 8 days.

If the criteria for being upped to platinum is to go for 25 articles and not get ANY rejected, I doubt they will be upgrading anyone under these new standards.

My first 40 articles got accepted without ONE rejection (well, that's not true - I had pasted the entirely wrong title onto one - easily fixed). My last 30 or 40 have been filled with articles being returned for random and obscure reasons, sometimes not even applying to the article. It's a gigantic pain.

But, I just try to be happy every time one gets returned. The more hoops they make everyone jump through, the more people will leave, and the less competition there will be for those of us who are committed to going through the process!

And, really, you can't beat them for SEO. You really can't.

Not even close. You've got IdeaMarketers.com, SelfGrowth.com is a gold mine if you're in niche that fits their guidelines, SearchWarp.com is good when they actually get your articles on board, AssociatedContent.com is not too shabby, Buzzle.com, just to name a few.

There's also something to be said for owning your own content on your own blogs and websites. EZA is far from the only place to get exposure. I released 6 press releases for one website in one niche in 2007 and received over 300,000 unique visitors. There are plenty of different ways to get exposure.

I've only had a few articles rejected. I submitted about 10 in the last couple of days.

cypherslock, there's nothing you can do, EzineArticles are adamant about their policy. Still, they are very search engine friendly, and submissions to them are very much worth it, in my experience. Just write more articles, you're gonna make platinum, don't worry.

I've submitted around 600 articles to EzineArticles over the last year. I have had exactly one article kicked back to me. The reason for the rejection was sensible and the article was quickly approved after I made the necessary change.

I submit articles on a daily basis. I can generally count on those articles being approved within 72 hours of submitting them. Occasionally, it happens faster. Rarely, it takes four days.

I am amazed by the frequent complaints about EzineArticles because my personal experience has been incredibly smooth.

I can't believe that I'm doing anything that dramatically different than others, so maybe I'm just having a monumentally lucky streak.

If I get an article rejected - very rare - I just post it to isnare and move on.

I know my articles are good so I do not let it worry me.

It is important to keep moving and not get stuck in a rut because your article has been rejected.

Why? Most people are either morons or losers and so why should you be surprised by frequent complaints about this or that. EzineArticles.com is probably the best thing out there for marketers. BTW, it was not created with marketers in mind, but writers, mind you, so if you are a marketer and they let you submit your $%^%*&*& unreadable crappola, you should only appreciate that.

And isn't that surprising that so many here whine about not being appreciated enough? Say, by their clients. Hey, how about you give something first before you demand something from others.

Never had any problems with EzineArticles.com that would not be of my own fault...

That's the exact situation I'm in.

Today I hit the limit on basic plus, tried to upgrade, all I got was another 25, no platinum.

The only time they denied an article during this latest 25 was for an "unknown error" ... after over a week or back and forth emails they finally told me they didn't like the NAME of one of my blogroll links on the blog I linked to in the resource box.

Maybe I'll get lucky during this next batch of 25...

Why are you so worried about getting the upgrade for?

From what I understand, all it means is faster approval.

Also, don't you have to pay $90 a month? Or am I missing something?
    {{ DiscussionBoard.errors[166190].message }}
  • Profile picture of the author cypherslock
I'm not but I'd like not to have to wait 7+ days to get them reviewed. And I think the 90 per month is steep. SO the platinum upgrade is the way to go.

I haven't had many problems with Ezine. I have over 400 articles on their site now, and maybe 4 out of the whole total is all I've had to make a change on. That was for having too many keywords in my link (since they say now to limit it to 3 words).

Since then, I have submitted dozens of articles that have 4 and 5 words in my links, and they get approved. I think it really has more to do with the editor you happen to get than anything else.

I wouldn't worry about it. When you get to platinum level, you will find that there will be days that you submit an article and it gets approved the next day, then there will be times you submit and it takes 3 or 4 days. You never know.

But I do have to agree, they are the BEST when it comes to Google.

In the meantime, submit your articles to Go Articles and a few other high page rank sites. They don't rank nearly as well as Ezine, but you can still be getting a little traffic while you're waiting.

I like Associated Content.com. Jeez, I've said that so many times on this forum, I really need to hit them up for some money. But seriously, they are no. 2 in sending traffic for me, behind ezinearticles.

They are so distant when it comes to traffic that they even do not register on my radar. For money, that's a different story, although they don't pay that much. Incidentally, I have a higher opinion about EzineArticles.com editors than those of AssociatedContent.com, but that's a different subject.

It makes me wonder that so many people say they've never had an article returned with EZA. Mind you, I never had either, until the last month or so. But now I've gotten them kicked back to me with errors that don't even make sense.

For instance, returned because you can't link to a site that's under construction when the site isn't under construction. Or, and this is a real example as well, returned because you can't promote a specific product or program when the article was a "three tips for" style article about losing weight. Another example, returned because you can't write articles about yourself (I didn't even know that was a rule) when the article was about a celebrity - who happens to be male. Yet another returned because it was purely informational and needed to include opinion, when the entire last paragraph was opinion.

In fact, every article I've gotten returned has been about something that didn't make sense. I either just submit them again and they go through, or I submit a help ticket and they get accepted. I've never had them actually come back to me and say, "Yes, something is wrong, change XYZ."

But if other people aren't having the same experience, it makes me wonder if there's some kind of glitch going on with my account, maybe in the automated portion of the review.

Nevertheless, even if that's the case, it's still worth it to fight through. Love, love, LOVE that traffic!

    Erik,

Would you enlighten me as to what you believe the EZA editors have in common with the people who set up and ran the death camps in Nazi Germany?

Being an older dude, I can remember when I got EZA Platinum status after only 10 articles, IIRC.

Plus, back then there was only one editor who EVER bounced an article - I think it was Editor #3.

And, it was so much easier to get articles approved back then. I've got a couple of traffic (read sales) producing articles from way back when that I just wish I could get accepted today.

Ah yes, the good old days.

But you all have to admit, EZA really is King 'O the Hill for article submission both for traffic and SEO. Course, that's just IMNSHO.

This is just a theory but I've talked to others
    who have confirmed.

I was having problems getting my articles approved
    at EZA.

Then I signed up with submityourarticle.com.
I've never had an article rejected since.

I don't know it Chris knows someone over at

approved while before nearly every one of
    my articles was getting rejected.

Thats interesting. Almost all my submissions are through SYA. Maybe that's why I never get rejected that much?
