NooB - I am doing Keyword research from 2 days - But still in confusion how to pick right keyword

Hello warriors,
5 Day Noob here...

I am doing keyword research from 2 days to a new article campaign. But i am not sure about how to pick a laser targeted - low competitive keyword to start out. Please suggest me how to pick a profitable keyword..[I know about buy xx, purchase xx, review of xx...e.t.c].

What are Primary, secondary and L.S.I keywords? How to use them in articles?

And how to research L.S.I keywords to stuff in article..I want to dominate Google's first page for few keywords.

you should be ashamed of yourself

also, here is what I do, I think of what keywords people would use to find a solution to a problem my product will help them with. Then I cruise over to google, search those keywords, click on "show options" then click on "wonder wheel" link down on the left

That gives me other keywords for the same topic people are searching for and will give you some great ideas to give you LASER targeted traffic

Use that with some of the other previous tips and you should see good results.

      Good Luck

You wont actually know a keyword is profitable until you test it. You may want to approach this by not choosing keywords which are used by searchers to seek free information.

Your primary keyword would be the keyword you want to rank for and will be used for all promotional aspects of your campaign. Your secondary is just what is says on the tin and is useful for mixing things ups eg anchor text. This all comes down to how many keywords you are targeting per campaign.

Not everybody uses LSI keywords. If your new I would suggest you concentrate on your primary and secondry to begin with if your not sure about LSI.

Try to do an advanced search on here for more info.

I use Google keyword idea tool. It gives you a list of words and there traffic. Too find out the competition put that keyword in Google search with quotation marks around it. if there are less than 100,000 sites found than there isn't much competition. check this link out for more info. To anyone interested in keyword research do not follow the advice above. To say "if there are less than 100,000 sites found than there isn't much competition" is way too simplistic and not true.

What matters is the SEO strength of the sites on the first page for the keyword you want to rank for regardless of wether there are 10 million results or 10,000

Depending on the keword you could find it easier to rank for one that has 1 million results than one that has 100,000

Personally I use Travis professional version software to get keyword ideas, but the results are quiet difference from Google keyword tool. I read lot in the forum..good and valuable stuff.

But my concentration is on how to find laser targeted buyer keywords. I think i can push some quality articles around that key..Is there any measurements existed to pick a good keyword. I want to make sales fast in two weeks or less.

Personally i don't want to burn myself in paid traffic without any experience. So i prefer article marketing.

Wanting to dominate google is the goal - but - you need to learn the basics first

Go to the forum page and look for the button that says "search this forum" it is top right just below the page bar. Click that button and type in "Keyword Research". This will provide you with all previous post regarding keyword research on this forum - and there are a ton of them cause this question is asked over and over and over again. I think a lot of the experienced warriors are getting tired of asking these types of questions because I don't see many replying lately.

    ANOTHER THING TO DO:
Go to youtube.com and do a search for keyword research tutorial after the results come up click on search options and then sort by "upload date" - this will get you the newest most relevant videos. Very important that you avoid any video less than 5 minutes because the less time the more likely it is just a video sales pitch and not really informative.

PLease realize that there is plenty of information available for the taking and just like the customers, you seek, it just needs to be searched for.

I use Micro Niche Finder. I love that program. Many others use Market Samurai. If you got a little bit of money to blow, either one is a good investment that will probably pay you back in the long run.

First off, leave behind the theory of "laser targeted - low competitive keyword", instead focus on finding MANY keywords within your niche with WEAK competition, not low competition.

Your secondary keywords come from your list of related phrases.

Here is a quick clue for you. Find a keyword phrase you think looks good. Do a quick search for it on Google. Are there article directories, Squidoo, HubPages, or other Web 2.0 items on the first page? If so, add that phrase to your list.

I just finished my research for a new niche, and in less than 1 day I have a list of over 60 phrases with articles on the first page of Google, 50 more phrases with articles filling up the second page of Google. Over 100 more phrases with articles filling up pages 3 and 4. The 60 phrases from page 1 are my targeted phrases. The other phrases will be scattered throughout my articles, and content sites, since they are related phrases.

I started off with a list of almost 600 phrases, and weeded out the ones with too low of traffic, and eliminated every phrase which did not have articles on the first four pages.

I have selected one phrase from page 1 to be the name of my website, one with a good search volume and several articles on page 1 of Google, with low numbers of backlinks to those pages.

Will I have success on this campaign? Who knows.... But I at least know by doing that research I have a fighting chance and that at least some of my articles and content will get ranked on page 1.

I really hope I misunderstand. You are not saying you are targeting keywords with as little as 20 searches per month, are you?

Yikes, I'm looking for keywords with 1000 plus searches per month, and hopefully much higher. I use Market Samurai, and one of my filters is to eliminate anything with less than 35 searches per day. If the search volume is too low, you will never get a return on your invested time.

    Thanks...20 searches is just example,

Just Google the term: Solution for premature ejaculation - Results: 814,000
But in the buyers/customers view it can be a : i need solution for [Keyword]. Monetizing keyword here..Is this formula works.

...How to do the keyword analysis if the keyword is not profitable or not..I learn a lot from dean's article writing strategies. I hope i cam implement his methods in my article marketing campaigns with better title of hypnotic article.

    My questions are:

    1. Do i target the raw keyword or targeting the monetized keyword [like above example].
    2. How can we analyze the specific keyword is profitable or not...I want to avoid freebie seekers.
    3. What are minimum requirements for a keyword/searched term in order to process our work around that keyword?

    4. @KansasDragon ... 50 articles beating the Google's head!?...Nice. Can you suggest me a blueprint or an idea about that! Of course lot of article marketers are doing that and i believe the right approach of keyword research can make me some $$.

      1. I prefer the raw keyword. I base my articles directly off what I learn from Market Samurai. I will add additional words before or after, depending on the need to make it natural sounding.

      2. We are talking about writing articles to drive traffic. You can write your articles to generate interest and excitement to buy. In your example "Premature Ejaculation" you could be clinical, or excited. Clinical will not create clicks. Hit their emotional hot buttons, inflame their desire to have change. Don't worry so much about freebie seekers. Discuss the value of the solution, which should lead them to understand "paying".

      3. Not really sure I understand your question. For an article, if the phrase is getting over 1000 searches per month, and the phrase has articles on the first page of Google, I'm going to take the time to write a few articles and submit them to article directories, and build a few backlinks to see if I can unseat someone on page 1.

      4. You should be able to find plenty of article topics/keyword phrases in Market Samurai by stepping sideways through your keywords. In other words, open up a phrase you find promising and re-run keyword research based on that phrase. You will find more associated phrases you can keep adding to your list. Make sure you click the box for Google Search Keywords, which will widen the scope of the keyword research.

Now to address a few differences of opinion with Evan, even though there is nothing wrong with his plan.

10,000 competing web pages means nothing. The top 10 could be highly optimized and heavily backlinked. 100,000 competing web pages means nothing. The top 10 could be poorly optimized, and have limited backlinks. The only thing 10,000 competing web pages tells me, it is a smaller niche, and likely to have less traffic.

5000 searches per month makes sense for a website theme, but not for an article. I can knock out a 400 to 600 word article in 20 to 30 minutes. If I can produce 100 visitors per month to my sales page from that 20 to 30 minutes, I will likely get at least one sale. That can translate to $20 to $50 for month one. Then again next month.... It is a very good return on investment to write articles for lower search volumes.

I will agree I would not build a campaign around anything with a small search volume, but an article or two?

    1) Go to google's keyword tool.

    2) Type in the related keywords to the niche you are interested in. Then generate the results

    3) Switch the match type drop down menu tab to "phrase"

    4) Look for keywords with searches over 5,000 per month anything isn't worth your time.

    5) copy and paste your choices into google search leaving the "quotes" in place to generate competition for the keyword phrases.

    6) Find one with a competition of 10,000 or less and youll have yourself a possible winner.

    7) Register the domain with the keywords in the domain name.

Make sure you grab the LSI keywords also. You will need to add these to your webpage content to help you site rank high in the search engines.

Note - Do not spam your keyword on your website. Place your LSI keywords throughout your content.

Well this should get you started. Hole this helps.

    Evan
