I have had my site up for over a month now and I still am not seeing really any traffic. I have written over 60 articles and have everything on my site and all the article i wrote optimized with my keywords. I am struggling to get more then 10 views a day. I just can not get ranked on google. What am I doing wrong?

My site is Make Money Online and I am wondering if you could go and see if maybe my page isn't optimized right or if it just doesn't draw people in. I just do not get it. And I have not make 1$. its bad. I have 7 subscribers.

  • Where have you posted your articles at? Also when I look at source code of your site, there are no meta tags for keywords, description etc at the top. That is the first thing I would look at when going to a site that has articles about that topic.
  • 1: have you subscribed to your own rss feed yet ?
2: claimed it at technorati yet ? with all the tags you can use ?
3: stumbled it yet ? (give a nice start)
4:tweeted it yet ? (takes time to build up)
5: get a social bookmarking plugin for your posts
6: go comment on related, but non competitive blogs
7: keep on adding more content. what you got is good, but you need good amounts of content to make an impression on goggle. Maybe submit a few less articles, and publish them on your site.

Do what I did just now: Get a great joke, and email it to all of your contacts. In the mail you ask for it to be forwarded to anyone who will appreciate it, with the url at the bottom. I just launched a review site two hours ago, with 9 products and services for a start.

so far, 31 clicks to the sales pages

    • Why number 1?
I have not done #2. How to do this?

    • Thank you this is good info. But I am wondering how to get a social bookmarking plugin.
  • Also, don't forget to submit to directories (doesn't seem to be mentioned above). Above all, don't give up! You need a consistent but multifaceted plan to drive traffic. Don't rely on just one way to get traffic. Try a little bit of a lot of things and then study your stats, and see what is working.
  • The thing is - you are in the internet marketing niche. It is HIGHLY competitive. You may want to work on getting quality backlinks from sites that may be related to the niche.

Then work on your keywords more. Target keywords with less competition, and make sure you have good keyword density in the articles you submit, as well as the content you have on your page.
  • Did you just posted your articles on your site?

Did you submit them to the most famous article directories
    out there?

Most of the traffic generation strategies are good however, especially take note of Post #131 by Stephen W. then check it again and again and.....
  • Have you tried putting up press releases? It would help, here's why. A Press Release is an announcement to the world. Make sure your PR actually
announces something. Do not make your Press Release sound like an ad. Leave all the nuts and bolts to your website. You should concentrate on an emotional appeal to your audience. Avoid hype and exaggerations. People see right through these things.

Visit this site: Market-it.com - This is a tremendous site with all kinds of promotion tools in it. I highly recommend it as my Press Releases are still up and bringing traffic to my website. It has several set-it-and-forget-it type tools (i.e. search engine submissions, article blasters, etc). Also, this is probably the most inexpensive way for you to publish Press Releases.

    Hope this was useful!
  • I would say you're doing okay if you've only had your site up for a little over a month, and already you have a PR1 for the "make money" niche. I know you said you haven't made any money, but it will come - just have patience.

Work hard, put more content on your site, write more articles, and do some hubpages and squidoo lenses. Find some long-tail keywords as mentioned, and use those on all of your blogs and lenses, of course linking everything to your site.

It will happen if you do the work. It takes time, have patience
  • All of the suggestions above work, however, you're missing a big issue here.

You are competing for one of the most competitive terms on the web. You might as well try to rank for "sex" or "porn".

I recommend focusing on more long terms and less hyper competitive ones.

Find things that are getting 20 searches per day and focus on those. Dominate one term at a time and move onto the next when you're done.

Eventually, you'll build up to a solid amount of visitors.

Also, focus on variations of "make money online" and eventually, you will rank well for that, too.
  • Also, tossing out some quality, no-strings viral PDf's with your URL branded as the provider of the PDF goes a long way to driving long-term traffic (especially with a Creative Commons commercial usage license assigned to each).

    Best regards,

    Mark
