Xoom account terminated

Anyone use xoom and recently had your account terminated? I was told I violated a term of service but I haven't done anything except use xoom to send money to my outsourcing team in the Philipines for the past year. Just curious if anyone else has been through this...

I use them once in a while for that same reason but now basically do everything with Paypal. If you are having issues with them ask your VA's if they are ok with going over to paypal as the method of payment.

They didn't terminate my account but last couple times I've tried to send money to my Independent Contractor in the Philippines they canceled the transfer. No one at Xoom can tell me why. They gave me the same BS excuse about violating terms.

I was able to send payment once with Xoom. Now I just use eMoneyGram. They charge more but it's hassle free compared to Xoom so worth it.

My account got terminated also, for no apparent reason. I called customer service (which is just a call center of unknowledgeble goofs), and they told me to email the account compliance group for the reason...which i did 3 times before getting the following reply:

"We write to inform you that, after careful review, we have disabled your Xoom account for violations of the Xoom User Agreement, effective immediately.

This decision cannot be appealed, and our customer service team will not be able to discuss the matter with you beyond restating the above.

Nonetheless, if you feel compelled to contact Xoom regarding this decision, you may send an email to us at xxxxxxxxxxxxxx.

      Very truly yours,

      The Xoom Compliance Team"

Now, I didnt do anything other than send some remittances to the Philippines to a couple of friends over the past 3 years, and usually never more than $50 USD (or around 2400-2500 peso). I never had a delivery problem or claim against them and I only sent against my bank account to minimize the fee charge...just irritates the hell out of me they cant give m a reason..I wonder if they are just targeting people that send to the Philippines becasue of potential fraud/money laundering that occurs there?

          vidwealth,

just tried to use my account and it to was disabled. I did not know that until the call center person told me. She then forwarded me an email she said they sent but i never received it. Felt all this was goofy as I've been a customer since '06. Anyways did a search and came to this link. I've attached my email.

Basically after all my years of being a loyal customer it looks like they just turned off my account and feel they do not need to expalin anything to me nor can i contact them about it.

          Dear T,

As stated in our previous communication, your Xoom account has been disabled for violations of the Xoom User Agreement. This decision cannot be appealed, and our customer service team is unable to discuss the matter with you. The decision is based on Xoom's proprietary compliance and anti-fraud policies and procedures, which are mandated by the Bank Secrecy Act, the USA Patriot Act, and other applicable U.S. laws and regulations. Pursuant to the Xoom User Agreement, we have the right to modify or discontinue your use of the Xoom service at any time, and we are under no obligation to share the reasons for our decision with you. Accordingly, no additional information will be provided.

          Sincerely,

I wasn't having any problems, but now I am. My account is still open but they keep canceling my transactions. They say I'm sending too much money.
I'm giving up on them and going back to wiring money.
Need to look into paypal again.

Actually it's worse than mentioned. My account was also disabled and when I emailed them their reply to me was "Your Xoom account has been disabled as a result of our investigation, where past or recent activity between parties violated our TOS. Unfortunately, this decision is final and cannot be appealed." I don't have a clue about what they are talking about and no one will tell me anything.

I also send money to my contractors in the Philippines, and my Xoom account was canceled yesterday. I send them an email message asking them to give me the exact violation committed on the account. I also told them that complaints and legal actions will be taken to different departments such as Federal Trade Commission, Online Better Business Bureau, State Attorney General, etc. if my request is not satisfied.

However, after sending the email,I did more research and found links and posts by Xoom company which mentioned that they don't do transactions for commercial purposes.

    Excerpt:
"... Commercial transactions can be risky for our customers, as merchants sometimes can be unprofessional or at times even fraudulent.

To protect the interests of our customers, we thought it best to simply prohibit these transactions from our system in the first place..."

So I guess I am just taking my money somewhere else. It is really their loss. In this global economy, a very big chunk of remittance is done for commercial purposes. They just need to find a way to avoid fraud, than not doing those kind of transactions at all.

Now, if someone here has found a better way to send to the Philippines, please let me know. I think Paypal is limited in the Philippines. I am in an area where there is no BPI bank branch, Western Union is far from my location too and a little bit expensive (however, this is my first choice for now. I used them before I started using Xoom).

    Thanks.

Xoom is useless by the sounds of it. They won't accept PayPal and they stopped letting me send money to the Philippines from Canada ... so my workers all use PayPal now and I simply transfer to them via PayPal. Works very well.

Tell your guys to get a UnionBank EON card ($8 fee). Then connect it to PayPal.

My account was also disabled/terminated by xoom without any reason at all. I have been a loyal customer of xoom for more than 3 yrs and to the best of my knowledge haven't done anything wrong beside sending money to family and friends back home. I contacted xoom costomer sevice and told me to write to the "account compliance" which I did but unfortunely did not receive any reply from "account compliance" until now.

I wrote "compliace" again for the nth time because I did not get any acknowledgement from them and this time cc my email to customer service. What I got from customer service was this:

Thank you for contacting Xoom Customer Service.

As stated in our previous communication, your Xoom account has been disabled for violations of the Xoom User Agreement. This decision cannot be appealed, and our customer service team is unable to discuss the matter with you. We are sorry for any inconvenience caused to you

Well I guess Xoom dont care too much about loyal clients. I now use paypal and money gram to send money home.
