Annoying Problem using Wordpress

Hello friends,

I am facing an extremely annoying problem in using my wordpress driven blog. I am using the WP 2. 9 version (i.e. second last version) on my blog. The problem is that whenever I post something on this blog, the post automatically gets changed and some unintended characters comes on their own.

For example :

On writing any word in double quotes like : "India"

the resultant text becomes : \"\'India\"

And

If I post a link like this :

<a href="http://www.youtube.com">Youtube</a>

Then the resultant output which is coming is :

<a href="\" target="\&quot;_blank\&quot;">Youtube</a>

I am at loss to understand the reason for this problem. I have tried changing the themes but to no avail.

Please help me.

This is caused by your host. Its not a WP problem.

Its would seem, at first glance, that some or portions of the PHP library have not been installed/compiled properly.

Ask your host to look into it.
If they haven't got a clue as to what to do about it, then change hosts.

If something simple like this is not going to work, then expect major heartache later down the track..

    Hope this helps

It should definitely not be happening with HostGator..

Try contacting their support people (there are pretty good) and lets hope they can fix it for you

Edit your article in HTML mode, do not use Rich text editor.
Wordpress rich text editor sucks and is famous by inserting or removing <br>'s <p>'s and substitute certain characters with it's own without your consent.

Pure HTML mode would work - but it is not as visually friendly of course

Yes I would agree with both Bruce and Memberwing...hostgator have great support - just go to live chat and they will help.

Also I always disable the text editor in wordpress and use the html as it works much better and you don't get any annoying errors.

Hostgator has nothing to do with this though - this is Wordpress problem.

Also, check your plugins. Some plugins are set up to "automatically" change certain things in your posts. For example, there are certain link cloakers that will automatically change your links for you. You may not always want this so there should be an option to disable it.

OK. I shall try to contact Hostgator staff and report further.
