A question for You....

I know alot of folks mention that they use twitter as a means to market their products and services. what are your thoughts on paying a service $20 to tweet your message 10 times to 500,000 twitter users?

I do have a motive for asking and any thoughts you could share on the idea would be great.

  • I personally wouldn't pay, because it is very likely that those followers were added with one of those auto follow softwares. I am sure how many of those memebrs will be active and how many of them will be interested with what you tweet.

With twitter I beleive quality is much better than quality. Also, hand picked 100 folowers (the ones who follows you geniunely), will give you better response than 500.000

great points! lets say for instance that all of theses followers were on multipul accounts, that each follower has been active in the last 14days. and that each account was created based on keyword relavence?
i guess my question is... is this a marketable service?

I would go for it. To me the selling point here would
be that your message would go out 10 times which would
likely mean multiple views increasing your chances of
sale or opt-in. Take your time and write a powerful
sell in 140 characters, and I bet your profit is
easily 500-1000%. Let me know how it goes.

I think it is a marketable service. I imagine people would buy it. That's just a guess. I personally wouldn't, but I'm not a fan of Twitter and have little faith in Twitter marketing. I've seen the streams of useless drivel pass down the screen and rarely ever bother to log in to Twitter.

I'm not sure how anyone could guarantee that the twits had logged in within the past two weeks or whatever time period and I've used auto-add software in the past to get Twitter followers and have unfollowed them since ... the amount of spam and auto-direct-messages was insane and it appeared that the auto-follow software followed every spammer on Twitter.

Personally for $20 I would give it a go. It's not a lot to lose and worth testing.

im with you on the viability of twitter marketing. but i do believe there is a market for those who do. providing the service for those who want to blast tweets to hundreds of thousands of people.
to be completely honest this is a business i am working on.
and i have been cultivating the lists now for a while
currently we have upwards of 700 accounts that have upwards of 1700 followers we have an ap that cross references each account with each other and removes duplicate followers and there are loads of free aps that will remove inactive accounts from your lists. the lists are all based upon certain keywords and we only follow people that tweet things that are relevant to those keywords. i have been testing sending out mass tweets across all accounts now for the better part of 2 weeks and feel the system works well. we have also been able to retweet the same message over 500 times and give it an organic viral feel.
my only road block at this point is a few more testing issues and coming up with an attractive pricing plan for the service

  • If it is different accounts, it is also very likely that you will have similar followers.

I would take an interest in it if I could get some kind of insight as to who the twitter users were.

Not saying that you would, but it would be pretty easy to get a bucket load of adult and spammer users all together to receive tweets. If I were coming at such a service with no knowledge of who you were, that would be my concern.

If I could get some verification as to the quality of the audience on the other hand, that would be a pretty compelling offer.

With all the Twit spam , I guess the real question is, do people who have subscribed to tweets from IMs pay attention to the message still?

I think there already some services out there that do something along these lines...

I'm sure I remember Shoemoney showing a case study with Sponsored Tweets.

It's definitely worth looking at. However, It's important that people have signed up to receive the message.

    Cheers,

    Kenneth

I believe Google indexes Twitter and a few large players use this to launch new products or campaigns. This works very well for these corporates but the content must be relevant and often has to come from the owner or expert within their particular field. If outsourcing you have to keep the content relevant and only ensure it is sent to people who have opted in!

      My tuppence worth!

      Cheers

It's definitely an interesting concept, and could work out well in certain niches. For $20 it seems worth a shot for most people to at least try it out. If you do offer this service, offer up some review copies to get some good publicity going. If it works well, I would imagine a lot of interest.

Agree that the value *if it works* is far in excess of $20. My concern is that Twitter strikes me as a service that will be more used on the go via mobile phone - a shortened URL style post might not be opened by a good %age of potential viewers?
