Ingenious Yahoo Banner Advertising Idea that Fools Me Every Time!

Hi Warriors!

Anyone here use yahoo as their homepage?

I have noticed lately they are doing this really clever double banner listing idea that gets me every time:

Considering that I rarely ever look at banner advertisements, and how these double listings have never failed to drawn my attention, perhaps this is something we should all look into?

Has anyone tried this before?

Funnily enough I use it on a fitness site of mine.

BUT, have to say our while our banners in two positions are for the same product and similar style, they don't match quite as perfectly.

I'm guessing what draws your eye to it is purely the double take reaction you get when you're brains saying "is that the same guy advertising everywhere".

I wonder if an non IM'er does the same.

    I guess so.

    Worth noting for sure Daniel.

Easy to split test the CTR as well.

I would imagine they did some cursor tracking on their site and found out that when people go to the right hand side they go down and then towards the center again!

Hence the positions of the ads.

Also notice the big bold colour that stands out from the rest of the page...

Squidoo lenses sometimes have a similar double-layout. Maybe they're split-testing which one gets more clicks?
