Wow sorry I wasn't stating that I was annoyed by the advert, or didn't see the obvious potential there. I was just stating it was kinda annoying seeing the advert again and again when it said I wouldn't.

I understand it's probably a cookie thing, what I'm wondering is why it wasn't set against the account. I'm a programmer and know this wouldn't be too hard to implement!

Allen, most of the time with other sites that say that an offer will be seen only once, that is the case for me. But not always. I've no idea why. With this one, I see it everytime I log on....which I don't mind, because I hate one time offers.... I usually prefer to mull things over before I decide.

I kept seeing the OTO and was watching for the appearance of this thread, LOL!

Anyway, i suggest that you ask those that keep seeing the OTO to try clearing their cache and/or forcing a reload of the page. It stopped appearing for me only after I did that (using FF).

I do see the notice here with every new browser session, but to the best of my recollection I don't think that happens elsewhere... I will take notice of it next time and report back.

Excuse my 2nd response to your question but my first response wasn't completely correct (reloading caused the ad to stop displaying to me for a particular session only).

I realized this when I came back and saw the OTO again (duh!), so I did a "quick" (as opposed to "thorough", LOL!) investigation.

It seems the OTO is displayed or not displayed based on a cookie named "bbnp_notices_displayed" and this cookie is set to expire "at end of session" (i.e. it is a session cookie so this OTO will reappear every browser session *unless* a person has cached the page without the ad -- and if they've cached the page with the ad, it will appear every time regardless and the "why" of that follows).

Obviously, getting a OTO to appear "one time only" when the decision to display or not is based on a session cookie will be a bit of a problem but, on top of this, the forum isn't issuing a "no cache" directive for the page the OTO is appearing on apparently either (I didn't actually check this out but it's logical, if not self-evident, and such a directive should/must be used when the url in question isn't dynamic).

Little bug(s)...easily fixed (the quickest fix is stop calling it a OTO, LOL!).

Disclaimer: I may not be right about this in whole, or in part, but that doesn't mean I'm wrong. However, if I'm not wrong, I may or may not be right based on facts not in evidence which may be indeterminable by further investigation

To answer your question, no I don't.

I think it is an IE7 issue, but I could be wrong.

If the people that have this problem refresh the page, it will be gone in a split second.

Problem appears every time I close/open browser. On other sites I have no problems. I don't clear cookies and use IE7.

Are you sure that OTO thing is based on cookies? Recently I've seen quite retarded OTO script, that is based on IP tracking and has similar problems.

Nope. Cookies are on. I even see the WF cookies in there, but I keep seeing the message every time I visit, whether logged in or not.


I don't have my browser set to delete cookies, but I do go through them manually every so often to clean them out. There will be cookies from sites I only visited once and have no intention of visiting again, so no need to clutter up things with those cookies. Sometimes it's just easier to delete ALL cookies and start fresh.

What I don't understand is why people would set their options to delete
cookies at all.

Do you have any idea how many sites you got to (especially if you belong
to forums and other membership type sites) where that cookie keeps you
from having to log in and do a whole lotta other sh*t day after day?

If I deleted my cookies after each visit, with all the sites I go to, I would
go stark raving mad.

Allen, I have a solution to this whole problem.

Turn the forum into a monthly paid membership site. That way you can do
away with all the ads and everybody is happy.

After all, we wouldn't mind paying for the quality information and chance to
interact with some of the greatest minds in the industry, would we?

As a matter of fact, here's just a short list of the benefits of the Warrior

I got rid of the "You'll Never See This Again" because of it...

It's the way it was handled. It's not what you complain about but HOW you
complain about it.

Had somebody simply Pm'd Allen and said, "I think there is a bug in your OTO
script. Could you look into it?" we wouldn't have a 2 page thread on this
nonsense.

Personally, I think this whole thread should be nuked now that the problem
has been fixed.

As luck would have it, as I was walking through this thread and quitely observing the various opinions of those involved I received an email from my favorite and most trusted marketer, one Perry Marshall. If you are doing Adwords and have not heard of Perry Marshall then you ain't doing it right.
