Golden Keyword Phrase or a Dud ???

I found a 4 word key word phrase that shows 15,000 google searches per month and when I submit it into a google search with "quotations" it shows google results of only 5,000 pages.

Everything I've read would indicate this key word phrase is golden however.... I also find the next key word phrase uses the exact 4 words in the phrase only in a different order an although it too shows 15,000 searches per month the google search in "quotations" yields 95,000 pages.

My question is will the results of the second phrase affect the results when marketing my "Golden Phrase".... or doesn't it matter at all

Thanks for your help,

winlin

    Hi Winlin,

This is indeed a golden phrase as you would call it. You do not need to worry about the keyword in a different order because you will be targeting the phrase in the right order as 15,000 people have searched for it. You will have the upper hand here if you will optimize your page for the exact phrase. You will only have 5000 competitors and not 95,000.

Whoa, you may or may not have a golden phrase there. I cringe when I hear people use the 5,000 "quote" rule. It's a very basic guideline.

You should also focus on the 1st page results of your phrase without quotes. Since you ultimately want to rank on the 1st page, how strong is your competition on the 1st page? What kind of PR do the pages have? You could have some major authority sites on page 1 and you never rank.

I just did 2 very detailed step by step keyword research posts on my blog. I don't want to come across as self-promoting, but just read through those posts and THEN decide if you have a golden nugget there. My blog is at imspeed dot com
