Facebook & Marketing...

Who uses FB for marketing purposes,

I use my FB account on a daily basis to keep in contact with people I know, (friends & family etc). I wouldn't dream of using my account to try and market IM, (they would lynch me).

Wondered how many Warriors use it for marketing and if so is it successful.

I use it to market and I have had a lot of success with it.

You can't blast your link out there 15 times a day. That will get you into trouble. But if you do it a couple time a week and still do your regular connecting, that works for me. I also add a lot more people that are in my niche. I have over a thousand friends there and when I send out a link, I always get traffic back to my site.

Seems to work as long as your not spamming.

Hey Kim, I use it to do alot of 'soft selling'. Mainly b/c my 'main account' is only for my 'real' friends!

I started a new group and provide information on the topic, by using videos, articles and tidbits. Once I have the group (which is the same name as the domain I registered) built up to a number that I have targeted in my head, I'll try to transfer most of them over to do more of a harder sales approach.

So far people appreciate the info I share with them via FB, so as far as establishing credibility, its working well. I'm experimenting with a new niche so we'll see how it goes!

From what I've seen it's working out well for some Warriors, so I decided to give it a try. Hope that helps, when it starts picking up I'll let you know.

I've created an different 'professional' fb account, so that I'm not annoying my friends from my main account. I don't really like mixing up the two - why do my friends want to know about outsourcing and IM & why do my work contacts want to know about photos of me hanging out at home.

I like facebook as a marketing tool....In order not to get on your friends and familes nerves it is possible to change your settings so that when you send something business related it doesnt show up on your friends and family pages.

Using the lists function is also really great, you sort your followers into relevant list e.g. prospects, business partners, etc.

I wouldnt go out marketing everything and everything to everyone, you want to add value, free info, advice, guidance.

And there are advantages of setting up fanpages (which reminds me I need to get my ass in gear)

    Beth :-)

      Kim,

From within your personal facebook account you can create a FanClub/Business Account. It's totally separate from your personal account.

      Help Center | Facebook

Tell your friends to check out your business/fan account. They can choose to be a fan or not. Many others who are not currently friends/fans will find your business account and can also choose to become a fan. When they become fans it will show on their personal page where their friends will see it and they can choose to become a fan or not and on and on and on.

I say it is worth it to give it a try!

    I guess I'm confused..

You SHOULD keep your profile only for friends and family.

You SHOULD create a FaceBook Pages account for all of your niches.

Facebook marketing works great for me. The key is to build up a Business/Fan page and not market from your personal profile. Build your brand with fan pages.

See I didn't know about the business/fan stuff

I'll definitely give it a go then. (As long as I'm not asked to play farmville and other weird stuff)

You can create lists of friends on FB so you can then target your activities to whoever group you want, plus you can also optout from receiving requests form any applications as well. It'S been a long time I've opted out from farmville and mafiawars

      Hope that helps a little.

      Best regards ,

I would like to add one small piece of advice... 90% of the time it will not work marketing to friends and family... but there is an exception.

If you are into marketing consulting services for web design, marketing, etc. to local markets this provides a huge advantage in your local market as the people on your personal account already know and trust you.

You have 1000 friends. Each of your friends has an average of 200 friends. As long as you set your profile to be visible by friends and friends of friends... this unlocks an unlimited amount of leads.

You will also need to be conservative in your marketing as was mentioned before so you don't appear like you are spamming your friends and family for business. Facebook has a lot of great tools to network with people. I would however create a fan page in addition to the profile marketing so they can get more info about what you are doing. I would also have a link on the fan page to a real and professional looking site. Also make good use of the lists as was also mentioned before this helps you track various profiles as well as share content with a specific group of people.

Then beyond that you can use super targeted advertising with Facebook Ads. Pay for your leads through advertising, but have a sales funnel setup to keep them as a client. Just provide good customer service and you will have repeat business after repeat business after repeat business. This is especially important in the tough economy we are presently going through.

    Hope that helps.

    Thanks. -- Dennis

    ADDITIONAL INFO:

I couldn't help but laugh in the previous elections. I was checking out the "Sheriff" race on Facebook on a guy that has been Sheriff since I was a little kid. Someone I went to high school with, although don't remember much about her... she was younger by a few years... posted some money making link with a line like: "Wow. I can't believe it... I just made $1234 today with just one site." or something along those lines.

This was a post on the Sheriff's profile. I just had to laugh. Yet I am certain that at least a few people clicked on the link.
