I have a product... next step?

So I have a product for the self-help niche.

12 exercises recorded as 12 MP3s, almost 2.5 hours of audio.
(Plus a 16 page guide-book and 6 coaching e-mails)

I'm wondering whether to sell it on clickbank or to use it as an incentive to sign up for my e-mail list. (Or both?) At the moment I'm only providing the 1st MP3 as an incentive.

What do you guys think?

Whenever I speak to people in the JV forum they suggest I sell it as PLR but although that could give me some instant money it doesn't help me build up a long term business in this niche.

What should be my next step?

Before we can answer that question, we need to know what your traffic strategy is.

Edit: I don't mean to sound short. I was serious. I would like to know what your traffic strategy is. It sounds like you have a good product. You can certainly sell your product.

If your plan is to get JV partners, then you need a product.

If your plan is to build a big list in the niche using Google traffic, then it's best to have solid free stuff that will attract incoming links and get you solid search position.

So how you plan to get traffic has a big impact on what you do next.

I think you should offer the first MP3 as an ethical bribe to sign up for your email list. Then, offer them good content in the newsletter and with that content you can have a blurb about how they can get access to the rest.

In the meantime hire a good copywriter (like me...lol) to write you a sales page to promote and sell the set. Then, you can either sell it on ClickBank or as a PLR.

      That's what I would do.

I would definitely focus on creating a good salesletter. Whats the point of getting traffic if the letter doesn't convert?

So true, Troy. Good point. People often fail to realize how important good, converting sales copy. You can have the best product in the world, but if your sales copy isn't convincing people that it's the best product in the world, you won't sell much.

Thanks everyone. I've written a sales page and will test it out soon. My friend said he would promote it to his e-mail list 60,000.

So I've asked if he can send an e-mail that I've written for him with a link to the sales page to 500 people.

I'll see what kind of response I get from that and then decide whether I need help with the sales letter.

cjmo75: Sounds like a good idea to send 3 MP3s, although part of me is afraid that they won't like it! LOL But I guess sending out 3 MP3s over the course of 9 days also gets them used to looking out for my e-mails.

I don't really have traffic strategy in place at the moment, there are so many avenues to think about.

I think this will be my plan.

    1. Finish a generic sales page (the current one is tailored to my friends e-mail subscribers)
    2. Get some paid traffic to test conversions. Decide whether the conversion is good enough and if I can improve it myself... or get someone else to do it.
    3. Set up ClickBank or E-Junky account.
    4. Approach people for JV's, they get my giveaway in exchange for their optins from their subscribers.

I wanted to throw this out before I forget it from too much reading. Join clickbank and ejunkie, PDC and any others you can find. Each one has a unique way of "hopping" over to your site. Place a tracking cookie based on the type of hop so the next time the customer comes along, you can offer the correct buy page. If the customer comes through a different affiliate link, overwrite the cookie with the new info,

Make a website, get some affiliates. Watch the money roll in....

Ok, it's not that simple but I do suggest it.
