There was a product called Translation Gold from Johnathan Leger but he pulled it of the market. I do not remember why

If you are building a wordpress site there is a free plugin called Wordpress Global Translate Plugin. it's at Wordpress Global Translator Plugin | Nothing2Hide

This plugin will translate your wordpress site into English, French, Italian, German, Portuguese, Spanish, Japanese, Korean, Chinese, Arabic, Russian, Greek, Dutch, Norwegian, Bulgarian, Czech, Croat, Danish, Finnish, Hindi, Polish, Rumanian and Swedish automaticly

There is an other wordpress plugin which costs about $30 from Taragana | Translator Plugin Pro

If you are able to read/write php....
Basicly these scripts take your contents and post it at free translating services like google, bablefish, FreeTranslations.com and Promt. Using some cURL will do the trick for you.

That's the kind of translation you can expect your readers to find when you use software translation tools to "translate" your website into other languages.

The best choice is to use a human translator. Rates can run 10 cents per word and up. I just have my site translated into one language. I coded the website myself so that users can easily click from one language to the other.

Dan's content is irregularly read by handfuls of people. Join the elite few by reading his blog: dcrBlogs.com, following him on Twitter: dcrTweets.com or reading his fiction: dcrWrites.com but NOT by Clicking Here!

Dan also writes content for hire, but you can't afford him anyway.

I had done this in the past for adsense sites and was surprised to see how well they did as opposed to the English version.

        Nothing fancy

Only for Spanish. I'll ask her if she's taking on new clients, and PM you if she is.

    Hey,
I'd like to suggest a solution for you to build you multilingual websites in a more cost-effective manner. Have you looked into CMS (Content Management Systems) with UTF-8 coding? We use Bitrix Site Manager 7.0 that provides a WYSIWYG format making it simpler to create and manage content. Hope this helps.

As native German and Spanish speaker and having translated more than 750,000 words I would recommend ... me

I would never recommend any software for translations because native speaker always will catch you and won´t even read your page and you lose double: You burned money with the software and worse you LOSE Sales.

My rates are at 0,05$ per word and I have a turn-around time of 6,000 words / day and quality is top notch.

If you are interested or have any questions, don´t hesitate to contact me.

        Hi Phil,

If you're looking for software translation, I can recommend Incansoft Translator. Very easy to use, and translates into 13 different languages.

        Regards,

          Hey,

Thanks for everyone's input, ideally I would use a translator, although software is tempting as it would be easier and more cost effective, although limited.

I will consider all your comments.

Cheers you have helped me out, feel free to ask me any questions in the future

          Regards, Phil

If you want a proper multilingual site you will need to contract translators - the online tools are fine to give a visitor an idea of what a page is about and that could often be enough to do business.

If that's enough for you get Babelfish and add that to your site - Yahoo! UK & Ireland Babel Fish - Online Translator | Free Translation

I would never recommend any software for translations because native speaker always will catch you and won´t even read your page
But I agree with Martin, especially if you really want to target other languages and not nerely as a nice to have

I don't suggest you use the free Global Translator plugin because it created hundreds of error 404 pages as seen in my Google Account/Webmaster Tools and that can't be good for the search engines. However, having a translator on your site is a good thing because it seemed to have boosted my Adsense income. I just bought the Incansoft Translator software and hope it will work properly.

I asked these questions in another thread so will ask you about your experience with Incansoft's translator too...

Since you've been using Incansofts Translator, have you logged into your Google Account / Webmaster Tools to see if it has created hundreds of 404 error pages like the free Global Translator plugin did to my sites? I bought the Incansoft Translator a while ago but have yet to install it due to paranoia that it might do the same thing. What do you say?

          Thanks
          Steve

Wow, this thread is old but relevant to what I'm looking into.

I'm thinking of creating subdomains and letting translators do their thing for me!
The WSO with 50 free translated words seems good.
