I Define Unlimited Differently Than My WebHost.

On the plus side, I have enough clients that my host says I need to upgrade to a dedicated server. The small drawback being I now need a dedicated server. Does anyone have a recommendation for a good, affordable provider of dedicated server space? Don't really want to stick with my host because I found their customer service both unhelpful and unfriendly when I called.

What do you have now? You may find that a VPS plan will offer plenty of space and cost much less than a dedicated server.

I use WiredTree. Pricey but the service is worth it and the support is great.

Web Hosting Services, Reseller Hosting, and Dedicated Servers by HostGator - I run 2 dedicated servers from them and have done so for about 6 years or so ....

Unlimited - There is no such thing, it's a marketing tactic used by host to get you to buy.. Fact is they have to pay for upgrades, bandwidth, and etc .... They know 90% of the people will never reach their "limit" so thus they say unlimited..

Most definitely agree with this and think it is a "shady" tactic...

Yeah most do not realize the backbone providers have to pay AT&T (Used to be bellsouth but since they are merged, once again!!) a huge amount of money for the use of those Fiber Optic Lines, T-1 lines, T-3 lines, and etc...

Yep! Even if you hate AT&T like I do, you are still helping to keep them in business...

This is why ISP's put a throttle on your connection to the internet, because if they just let you go wild then they would have to pay more money then what they charge you to access the internet. Same thing goes for hosting companies...

I always knew "unlimited" was a lie. And for those of us who are using a lot of web space it is a really inconvenient lie. If they had just given me a freaking number I could work with, I would have had more time to research dedicated hosting providers and not had to worry about my clients sites being shut down.

EDIT: For interested parties, it looks like I'm settling on WiredTree.
