Hi,

Which is the best method to source for a niche to start affiliate marketing?

I paln to start from clickbank marketplace.. Well.. some suggest looking at trends in google, yahoo, amazon, else.. some suggest brainstorming my interest, hobbies which i think is the difficult part to start with.

Not sure which method have the potential in affiliate marketing for a long term promotion to earn money..

Next is the keyword issues. I heard that doing a DETAIL keyword is impt and should explore carefully especially in google keyword tool? I heard of spyfu, keyword elite - prehaps the best to do keyword research since it had everything under 1 roof to reduce research?

For market research, you can go to eBay Pulse and Amazon's Bestseller list for some ideas of niches you can target.

For keyword research, I recommend Market Samurai. You can get this awesome software in the following link:
    Code:

Market and keyword research is very important in niche marketing. Never skip this part or you're doomed to fail.

Yep, for keyword research I'd also recommend Market Samurai, coupled with wordtracker free edition. Bear in mind, you can buy MS for $97 not the regular price of $147, and also from the same guys (not reseller or any untrustworthy source), just search a little in google.

      Hey Calvin,

It's a personal choice and depends on what your goals are.

Many people get involved in niches they have no interest in because they think chasing the money is going to make it worthwhile. You can sure do that but in my experience (affiliate marketing for 11 years) that's not the best way to get started unless you really have zero idea of what you're passionate about or want to achieve.

It sounds like you believe following your passion is not the best way for you, I'm not sure why that is, but if it is so then the thing you want to find is - what traffic can you access?

Picking a product is a waste of time until you know you can access the people it is designed to help - so my advice is work out who you can access that is willing to pay for a solution and then choose an appropriate solution to sell them.

It's actually not a real good idea to start in the "how to make money online" niche if you don't know anything about internet marketing. There are plenty of easier niches out there to make money with. And by the way, just because this is an internet marketing forum doesn't mean everyone here is in the "how to make money online" niche.

The best thing to do is find something of interest. Something that interests you and that you might know something about. Start researching to see if there are products being sold in that particular market. From there, if you want to be an affiliate, start looking for a product that is a solution to someones problem within that market. When you find that solution, do your keyword research for keywords you can use to rank on the search engines. Long tail keywords are probably the best. Create a website around those keywords and the promote the affiliate product. So find a need that someone has and give them the solution.

I would be careful about picking a high gravity product, because you may be competing with a lot of affiliates with some deep pockets. If you do choose a high gravity product, you better do some great keyword research and analyze the websites/blogs/articles that are ranking on the first page of Google.

I really do not think that you need keyword elite, unless you want to invest in the software. I personally do not use any paid keyword research tools, and I do pretty well with keywords.

you just have to think a little "outside the box" in order to uncover some great keywords. (Hint: try the "website content" search feature of the Google Adwords keyword tool, as well as ezinearticles.com for keyword research.)

This is how a lot of people just getting into internet marketing start. And most of them get burnt out because they have no idea about competition and they don't know that thousands and thousands of other people like them are throwing up websites and articles trying to rank for keywords in big niches like "weight loss" or "getting rid of acne" or something big like that.

Instead of going after the highest gravity products (like gravity over 100 for example), I would pick a product that you like and with good affiliate tools with a gravity between 5 and 10.

      Or somewhere in that range.

And it should be a product that is not a big niche. For example, I don't mean an "acne" or "weight loss" product with a gravity between 5 and 10 because those niches have clickbank products with gravity over 100.

Pick a product where that product has a gravity of 5-10 (or in that low range) and that should be the highest selling product in the niche.

      Here are some examples:

-There is a beginner beekeeping product with a gravity of 7 (and I'm pretty sure there is not a higher selling guide).

-Toothache cure website with a gravity of 8.

These niches are way less saturated and have lower competition keywords to help you get your foot in the door.

But don't promote these, find something with a similar gravity and something that you feel good about promoting. Check their affiliate tools. I like sites that have a free giveaway like an ebook or a free short .mp3.

Then you can refer traffic to that site and talk about their "free .mp3 or free guide" that will help them but it will also get them on the vendor's email list. And you want to find a clickbank product that has a good email list that converts well.

      Hopefully this isn't confusing.

Go after low competition unsaturated niches to get your foot in the door and get confidence!

    Hey....

Your signature is really throwing me. I mean, you are asking on how to find a niche (pretty basic stuff, right?) but are also promoting an IM blueprint that supposedly teaches you how to "dominate all marketing strategies."

    Newbies are funny that way.

Anyway, one suggestion that I would recommend to you is to keep your keyword research tool open when you are doing your keyword research.

The quality and quantity of the keyword phrases for a particular niche should be a factor in deciding whether or not to target that niche. The keyword research shouldn't be an afterthought.

It's really important. I have started profitable niche blogs based off single keyword phrases. Good keyword phrases that you can actually rank for should be a critical factor is deciding to target a specific niche.

    Much Success,

one often left out part of this is the "that you can actually rank for" part.

so how do you determine if you can actually rank for a given keyword?

I am new to this but I did just make my first few sales. I simply chose a niche that I already know a lot about where I know people are rabidly buying things and are on the lookout for "the next big thing."

I didn't even need to do much keyword research because I already knew what people were looking for and their exact keywords that they use since I also buy in that niche.

I guess my advice is to think of a niche you are already a consumer in, think about what people want but keep in mind it has to be something they like to buy on the internet.
