If you dig a bit deeper, I think you'll find that you will have to sign up for a very minimum of 13 "offers" and prove that you've signed up for them.

The offers will be for: Insurance Quotes, Credit Card applications, magazines, etc.

After you've signed up for all of these "offers" (and, spent a ton of cash along the way,) you'll get your "free" iPod.

I wish the FTC would crack down on this type of ad as they are mis-leading, false advertising, and costly for those that forget to go in later and cancel their subscriptions before they are billed. (And, I doubt that subscribing for a half-dozen new credit card are going to help your credit ratings, either.)

I assume that you are referring to an offer like this (only viewable in the US). This type of marketing is called incentivized CPA traffic.

Basically, the marketer offering the iPod/iPad or whatever will require you to complete a number of CPA ads in order to qualify for your free gift.

The marketer receives a commission for each signup, and the total of these commissions will be significantly greater than the value of the iPad.

Most offers like this will require for 10-20 offers to be completed. Most of the time people will give up after completing only 5 or 6 offers, meaning that the marketer gets paid for the offers that are completed, but does not to deliver the gift since the user did not complete the terms of the offer.

Can you really get a free iPad? YES you can, BUT you will have to give you name, phone number, email address, postal address an possibly credit card details to at least 10 other companies in order to qualify.

The most common way is through tracking pixels. The marketer provides the CPA network with a pixel that contains a unique tracking code that the network then place on the "Thank You" page after signup.

    The flow goes like this

    - Marketer sends user a link to an offer that contains a tracking code unique to that user.
    - User completes the offer, tracking pixel fires and identifies to the marketer that the user has completed the offer.
    - Marketer's system updates the user record as having completing the offer.
    - Marketer can also check with the CPA network to ensure that the transaction was registered and he got paid.

If you want to find out more about this kind of marketing then the best way is to sign up for one or two of these offers, study them, then sign with a CPA network; (NeverBlue or MaxBounty are among the easiest to get into) then try it for yourself.

    You're welcome Fontaine.

For your future reference, if you wish to thank someone who has helped you on this (or any other) forum, the best way to do so is to click the "Thanks" button in the bottom right of the post that you found helpful.
