hai all,

Just started learning keyword search and come across few confusing fact. hope the old hand can help me out.

I run through my long tail keywords with mr G keyword tool as well as wordtracker. the result was totally far apart. for example the keyword tool is giving me 5000 search, wordtracker on the other hand just indicate 70 search. is there any explanation for this ? any better way of doing the kw analysis ?

thanks in advance.

All keyword tools will be different. Wordtracker is only going to give you results from metacrawlers, and they command a whopping whole 0.63% or some such result of the market. Wordtracker is also giving you daily search results, so multiply that by 30 days and then multiply it by 5 to get a rough average of what Google tells you, bearing in mind that Google does not command 100% of the market, so the results should be higher. Wordtracker's results will be low in comparison.

You need to look at Wordtracker and Google's keyword tool - https://adwords.google.com/select/KeywordToolExternal

There are so many keyword tools and the search results are confusing to say the least. I would compare Wordtracker x 30 days, and Google's tool, and for comparison purposes to see your competition results, use Matt's Free Keyword Tool because that will show you your true competition in quotes.

A lot of people say, well most people don't search for a phrase in quotes, and they don't. Putting quotes around a keyword phrase will show you in Google your exact competition for websites that have optimized their site for that phrase, and you should compare that to your keyword search results.

My recommendation is to look for keyword phrases that have under 50,000 results in Google in quotes, and more than 300 monthly searches on the Google Adwords tool, or more than 50-100 on the Wordtracker tool.

It's all a guess at the end of the day, but you will need to find "longtail" phrases - keyword phrases with 3-5 words to be able to rank high and have low competition.

Of course, everyone has an opinion on this, and we all have our own methods. I wish you luck!

      Michele,

thank you very much for the long explanation. really helpful for me.

as for me, I'm mostly using Google keyword tools. personally I don't understand reason for adding the wordtracker in the matrix. the most important part is to know that people are searching for the phrase. and the number is good. so if the keyword tools indicate a substantial search and google is showing low competition, then we are in the right direction.

as you said it s all subject to people opinion.

by the way I really love the warrior forum. members are helping each other in the true spirit. I used to be actived in DP, unfortunately the spirit of helping others is deminishing. most just want to promote their product and flaming others.

      once again thank you very.
