Social Bookmarking Ezinearticles, How Much is Too Much?

I've been writing a lot of articles for ezinearticles lately. I'm wanting to improve my article's chances in the SE's so I tried bookmarking about 5 of my articles to 50 social web sites through a service. It seemed like they took an eternity to start showing up on the SE's, (4-5 weeks), even though I optimized for low competition KW's.

Is that too many social sites to bookmark at a time?

Should I wait 1 or 2 weeks before bookmarking my articles?

If anyone could shine some light I'd appreciate it.

I don't currently do any type of additional promotion to my ezinearticles submissions, and they are usually indexed and ranking within 1-2 days.

I'm glad you made this thread though, because I've been wondering about more or less than same thing (the effect of social bookmarking on ezinearticles)

yeah im interested in this to. ive had this technique swing both ways, one article jumped up the rankings and is still there months later, and ive had others just fall off googles earth. when they were once ranked ok. i hope someone can shed more light on this

I'm on google's first page with about 1/2 of my articles within 5 hours of them being live WITHOUT doing any social bookmarking stuff. I'm in the most competitive niche also. They usually stick too.

I think people should focus on writing more articles instead of doing other things trying to get higher in the rankings.

But then again, now that I think about it, if your articles suck, then you may need to use every trick in the book to get them up on the 1st page of google.

Choose your poison... write more articles or spend the time promoting fewer of your articles.

I know that digg and propeller won't accept ezinearticles as the url. Digg does seem to take a few other article directories though.

Thanks for the response guys. I think it was probably overkill on my part. In the future I will not bookmark my articles until I have given them plenty of time to settle, and if they don't hit the 1st page I will bookmark my article to only 2-3 social sites at a time and see what happens.
