I have no clue how this pay per install works, but have read a blog post earlier today, anyone having any tips where I can learn more about this? Is this legit?

Typically, PPI involves installing adware on a downloader's computer so that you can be paid per installation (hence the acronym PPI). Usually this would need to be done without alarmig the user. And usually, you may need to take a shower upon doing this sort of ... um, marketing.

It's not something with which I would care to be involved. But if you're really interested there's a forum at pay-per-install.org that discusses nothing but PPI. That's not even a link, let alone an affiliate link.

I agree with seven, I've seen few legit PPI's. Some of the like zango, actually steal affiliate sales but over writing on the surfers pc after install. Not something that would help most people sleep at night.

Too many of them install without the surfers knowledge.
