. . . promoting with Facebook?

Is has come to my attention recently that there are over 400 million people using facebook. A considerable percentage of them are also using it to network with people in business through certain groups.

Now tell me, has anyone on here used Facebook to market, promote, or meet new potential clients, customers, business partners, etc. If so, what is your opinion on its effectiveness. If you haven't, is there a specific reason why?

I have similar thoughts. I guess it comes down to what you want to promote and who to?

I saw a thread on here yesterday where a Warrior had a group with over 1million fans. That's pretty powerful.

Actually, the opportunity is ripe. Granted, not EVERY business will be successful and for IM, it is a bit of pick and choose...CPA and affiliate programs are always suspect, but folks make money, but are then sometimes banned of course. If you own your OWN products, or sell IM services etc. you should be fine.

Personally, I started a business on Facebook and made thousands before I ever had a website...of course, the product was AIMED at marketing on Facebook, but since that time, I have helped launch about 40 businesses on Facebook-I teach people to use it to build their email list, send traffic to their site, and interact with clients/prospects all through the fan page feature.

Hope that helps...there is definitely potential and you can DEFINITELY make money, but like anything else, you need to learn the landscape and do your best to play by the rules.

I am promoting with Facebook and am having good success. I am not really going for sales (yet), as I am using it with my website to build my list. Facebook has so much potential it is crazy.

Facebook is a huge market and there are easy ways to gather targeted people for the niche you are in . Just do a search on the pages section and see what people promote and you will have an idea

I don't think that facebook is a great promo tool. You can use Facebook to connect with other business people, to become familiar with them. Then, you can tell them about your business, and maybe ask for an ad swap or JV proposal. Just don't hard sell your products, as people don't like to be sold to on FB.

Hi face book is massive and growing by the day...certainly worth 30 mins a day attention to build your friends.
This is the approach I take...
1-Post 3 interesting snippetts of information in my news feed daily.
2-Then I do a search in my niche area to find fans that are interested in my service,
I look through the list and hand pick other people who I have a common interest with.
3-Then I ping them a few sentences introducing myself and outlining why I choose to connect with them as a friend... this takes about 2 mins per new person and I target ONLY 15 people a day...any more than this and you may look like a spammer.
Cool BE CONSISTANT and do this every day after 40 days you will have a growing database of new friends and potential clients/ business partners...
Post up your results here in the forum... all the best Ark

Also Warning...don't cut and paste the same message to each person as Face book dont like this. Just be friendly and you will be surprised at the positive response you get back!
I am using this strategy on facebook

This is a very good question, in my opinion, after having tried groups and fan pages not even to promote, but to connect and raise awareness to the masses as to what they could achieve with the internet, but am finding it to be a lot of work, it will probably work in the long run, but of course with a lot of work, some people are just not ready yet for IM or related businesses, funny isn't it? I think human beings are just a complex species indeed.

I know there folk out there who are struggling to make ends meet, I interact with some just to sort of find out where there are with things and they start pouring out their troubles, most of them financially related, and when I suggest what they could do to improve their lives, they come up with a boot load of excuses?

Unless you use FB's paid advertising which I think is fantastic if you know exactly what you are doing, you are better off than wasting time trying to post posts. However, I think it is crucial that you build your group or fan page graually, as has been said, with a following of 1000,000 people, surely, you can't go wrong.

You could automatically send content to it if you have a blog as a way to send people to your website.

One service that will do this is Twitterfeed.

Facebook paid adverts are a total waste of time IMO they are constantly rejected, you can make more money of facebook using free methods rather than paid tbh.
