Setting a HUGE challenge!

When you want to get big results, why not set a HUGE challenge for yourself?

One of my favourite quotes illustrates my thoughts on this: "Shoot for the moon. Even if you miss, you'll land among the stars."

It would be nice to set up a passive income so I don't have to work during the school year next semester (though since I'm an addict, I probably will! ), and I have a summer to do it in. When I saw this thread, I saw an opportunity.

My goal is to make a couple hundred a month in passive income, so to meet it, I'm setting myself a HUGE challenge.

This summer, I'm going to create 1,000 passive income blogs in 100 days. That means setting up 10 per day.

If all goes according to plan, I'll probably end up exceeding the goal I set (hopefully by a good amount, haha ). But even if I miss, I'll hit my goal.

What about you? If you're not interested in this way of making money, is there a HUGE challenge you can set yourself instead?

I never understood that quote because my mind is too literal I suppose. I always want to nit pick about the stars being further than the moon.. haha.

Anyway, I do love to set HUGE goals for myself, and find that it generally yields more results than setting "attainable" goals.

The only thing I've been unable to get around is the feeling of not succeeding when I dont meet my HUGE goal. It bums me out, which motivates me, but still makes me bummed on a daily basis when I don't meet my own unrealistic expectations. haha.

I have a print out of a Ferrari Modena hardtop for sale on my whiteboard in my office - its $150,000.

Im training myself to look at it and think "its easy.."

My next goal is $20K a month. If I can do that, then theres no reason I cant do $60K within 6 months from there.

10 blogs per day? Ouch... What do you plan for traffic to these 1000 blogs, backlinking also comes to mind.

What a challenge! Do you have one particular niche in mind or several? I think it could be difficult if it was only one - but that could be part of your HUGE challenge.

    Hey you can't do that.

No matter how big of a gun you have, you can't have land it on the moon because you need enough energy to be able to beat the earth's gravity and you can't do that without a rocket

    OK, jokes aside!

It's good to setup goals but it's great to keep working on them. Each and every person has a goal in his mind and he/she strives for it but very few actually work on them and make them come true.

Make sure you are not the part of the huge crowd of failures.

Hi Zabrina, that's my plan too, thereabouts. Currently I'm into 2 and a half months, and I have 645 sites.
Target: Another 355 sites in 3 weeks.

Sarah, that's awesome....how's the revenue going so far?

Are you using some kind of wordpress cloner to get them all going?

I have another challenge for you,

Instead of throwing together 10 blogs a day why don't you make one blog and write one really good article a day? If you're passionate about your content I guarantee you'll make much more money then putting together hundreds of little blogs.

You can also just outsource your entire blog building project for 300 a month and make the money back on the blogs by the end of the summer.

upon creation of extreme content sites

so what sort of strategy do you use to create an extreme content site?
Well for one thing you do not try to do it once.
Having said that though if you think you want to go extreme make sure you set up a basic structure that allows for expansion
Start small, but leave room to grow. For instance, start out with a ten page site that stays on one topic.

Then once you get google adsense going and the checks are coming in
use the tools discussed to determine the hottest keywords of the month
and use the other tools to build your keyword rich content.

Before you know it, you will be up to thirty, sixty even hundred pages.
then you will just need to make commitment to add a certain number of pages each month

Another great way to build a quick content site is with other people articles using a tool like article site builder

this tool builds content pages by pulling articles from article site directories :p

Whoops, I totally forgot I created this thread until now! Massive reply forthcoming...

InternetSuccess001: Yes, Adsense. The link in the first post explains it all.

mr2monster: True... I tend to be too literal also, but I guess I appreciate the sentiment behind it in this case. And that's a good point, you have to balance rewards with disappointment and remind yourself that you still did your best.

ramone_johnny: That's a great way to motivate yourself. Is it working well? I hope you take action to achieve that first goal soon!

butters: They're very basic blogs, using articles I've already downloaded. :p Traffic, well, I'll worry about that later. My main problem is getting the motivation to put blogs up in the first place, so if I can do that, I can go back and create backlinks later.

statquo2010: Thank you! Have you set any huge challenges for yourself lately? Did it work well?

Sue McDonald: I'm experimenting with a variety of niches. Then I'll see which ones that work the best and expand on those.

mohammad111: I see a new invention on the horizon...

glassextreme: Fantastic work! Are you following the same basic plan? Is it paying off? I'd love to hear more about your experiences.

LiamMcIvorMartin: Actually, I plan to do a followup project using unique content and seeing if I can generate the same results with 1/10th the number of blogs, either later this summer or next summer.

chollas: Thanks! How about you, do you have any big goals you're working towards?

dbonline: Yes, setting the huge goal is the first step. Once that's done, the rest becomes easy. Have you tried this out?

styleexpert: Yeah, there are lots of ways to create a good content site. Right now I'm focusing on numbers, but as I mentioned above, I'll be doing a followup project where I concentrate more on fewer sites.

    -----

I'm up to 50 blogs and reminding myself that I'm already 5% there.

But I didn't intend for this thread to be about my project specifically... I'm interested to know if anyone else has done a similar thing in their own line of work -- setting a HUGE goal. If not, why not? It works well!

IF they are all on parasite hosting, that's a lot of time if they shut you down for spam. I'm not trying to be a downer here, but I've read some horror stories about people getting shut down even if they weren't spamming at all. I would say to try and diversify. You're a great article writer, which is pretty enviable. I would say to still try and focus on your plan, but focus on say 5-15 bigger sites(your own domain name that nobody can shut down) along with a lot of mini mfa sites. Learn some seo and rank your bigger sites. If you can rank decently any of those 15 sites, you could probably reach 1000/month pretty easily. Just find lots of longtails and build some strong sites. Make each page, a separate long tail keyword dominator, and build backlinks to each page targeting the long tail keyword. Sign up for some different networks and you're off.

Just a thought. I would hate to see 100 days of effort thrown into oblivion like some people saw happen to their squidoo accounts. I'm not saying it would, just diversify. Anything can happen...I bet all those adwords users weren't ready to kiss their entire business goodbye when google decided to slap them silly. The smart one's diversified their ppc networks and probably had their foot in the door seo wise too. Building a list in hot niches is always good too. Just find niches with lots of products(list niches like weight loss, self help, mmo,) and build a list of a couple thousand through targetted article marketing.

You could probably be making 500/month through a small list of 3000-5000 people. Can you drive 7-10,000 people to a squeeze page. if you take into account a 30-50% squeeze rate.

But hey, I know I just threw a lot of options out at you and it may be confusing. If i were you though, I would seriously considering building some niche authority style sites(50 pages of content targetting long tail keywords, adsense or affiliate products). You could reach your goal pretty fast that way.

But hey, focus on one goal and stick to it. You'll see results if you take action, I know that.

    Cheers

    Good luck
