News7Report - Diet Trends: A look at America's Top Diets

was reading my local paper online and saw the usual cpa weight loss banner.... I thought the ftc, the MC/visa were shutting all of these sites down....

am I missing something?

How can the FTC shut them all down? (the internet is huge)

They'll stop some of them but they can't stop all of them.

From the look of it laxatives have the same effects as the berries.

Whoever made that lander is probably 1) pissed that you outed the page 2) making enough money not to care if customers are getting screwed

A lot of the rebills have been shut down, and not surprisingly many of the CPA networks who thought they were doing well are now finding themselves in a tough spot because scammy offers were the majority of their "business".

There's still so many rebills out there if you want em.

The warnings have been made a lot clearer now in comparison to previous LP's but rebills are still doing huge volume.

  • I happen to think that unscrupulous people will always exist. And just as Vanquish said, the FTC is to small and the internet too vast. And we can not forget that because the internet is worldwide it may be much harder for the FTC to be able to regulate it all.

i thought the networks weren't allowing these things anymore... thats why most of em are down.

re; the rebills.... 99% of them are down. almost every bookmarked rebill cpa offer i have is down. (and i had MANY of them bookmarked).

thought the CC companies cracked down on these rebills.... thats why they're all gone.

They did crack down on them, some nets pulled them entirely.

There's still so many it's not funny, especially the **** niche.

    They just rebadged it.

You can also get them still on

    biz op
    e-cigs
    dating
    muscle building

All the usual stuff is kicking around and paying out big numbers, $38+

I got asked to write copy
for some stuff like this a while
    back.

They wanted me to write user
accounts of how I dropped 30lbs
    and stuff like that.

Not ethical at all. I said no, but
I was pretty shocked at how
    blatant it was.

The main crack down is on the auto billings that are misleading or not clearly stated. You'll find that if you clearly state the reoccuring billing process you will have the best chances of being able to keep monthly billing going.

yeah right.... you must not have the processor we have. lol

they are/were cracking down on EVERYONE.... they even wanted us to put the cc info at the bottom of the checkout page instead of on the right of the order page....

It says right at the top of the page: Advertorial and has a terms and conditions at the bottom that is like 10 pages long.

If people can't read or won't take the time to read what is on a site before they buy stuff - they should give their computers away or smash them with a heavy hammer.

This type of advertisement is in just about any major magazine that you buy at a news stand, not to mention, this form of advertising has been used for....what....40 years? longer?

Whenever I hit the bathroom, I read the crap my wife has stacked here and there and there are all kinds of these types of advets - the only thing they don't have is the goofy "comments" section...

Right at the top of the site it says:

      Advertorial

This site is not affiliated with any newspaper publication.

At the bottom - not hidden, it says:

If someone reads all that, and still buys the product...errrr...Like I said, they have no business on the net

I'm not saying that I agree with this type of advertising or the way that it is presented.

YES IT'S SHADY - But, I honestly don't see a big difference between this and the slew of ****ty review/conduit type stuff that a big percentage of peole here run. Or even the obvious "flog" type emails that we all get.

"I just used so and so's new super duper money pooper ATM system and I increased my conversion rate by 10000000000000%"

      LOL

IF people can't see the truth in this case, even though the man/woman pretty much comes right out and says that the whole site is fake, they are too dumb to have an internet connection.

The only way that advertising like that will stop is if people actually use their common sense.

agreed... but dude, we all know people don't read most of whats ON the page, let alone the 10 pages at the bottom in dark grey on a light grey background....

and the review sites... i think are less shady because you assume a reviewer is selling a product so there is bias.

with these sites, its flat out lying.
