Double Opt-In Subscriber Lists - What's the value per subscriber?

Hi folks,

I was hoping some of you guys who have large double opt in email lists could share with me what your value per subscriber per month is.

For example, if you had a list of 100k and this list alone made you $100,000 per month, then your value per subscriber would be $1 per month.

I know this will vary based on niche and how targetted the subscribers are etc. I'm just looking for some real life examples as this is the line of business I am moving in to soon and would love to get a guage of some rough examples of what I can expect before I start testing.

If people aren't comfortable talking about their list size/value per subscriber/niche etc then links to some articles or resources that discuss this would be great too.

Cheers.

This is a topic that interests me a great deal. I'm in the process of building lists in a couple of different niches and I'm starting to see a return of close to $1 per subscriber. Mind you I don't have a monster list by any stretch of the imagination. In fact there all at the beginning stages.
I look forward to the answers to this thread and I will have some real hard evidence of my own over the coming months.

Ah nice one. This is just the sort of reply I was hoping for. I am looking to be able to make $1+ from each subscriber I get per month but I'm not sure whether that is a realistic or even a pessimistic figure to aim for?

      More personal experiences are welcomed

I don't think it's a pessimistic goal at all. In fact I've just spoke with a marketer who is earning well over $2 a month per subscriber. It's all about the trusting relationship that you build with them. The cooler you treat them, the more responsive they'll be.

It all depends on how you got your subscribers, It can go from .01 to $5 a month per subscriber.

It really all depends on the kind of list your building. If your building one in the affiliate marketing world you should be hitting close to $1 per subscriber per month its really a numbers games and just seems to be how it works out. For example I my oto converts at around 5%- 10% for new opt ins and honestly I thought I made one killer offer. But everyone elses oto's convert around that 5% to 10% range. Its all about that 5% that take action and the other 95% that are just passers and do not take action. If your not making $1 per month per subscriber or more you need to start working on how you approach your list and studying up on it. Like with any job you need to go to *school* and learn how to do it before you put it into action. So pick up some learning materials and start learning how its done

I have a list of double opt-in subscribers of about 250,000 for internet gaming (as in, MMORPG, FPS, etc). I have yet to do anything with this list.

In your experience, would this have a high value?

    Hey there RockNRolla

I have just started my list in the IM niche. It is only about 70 right now. I got these from giveaways and have not tried to sell them anything as of yet. I was on a webinar last week with 2 seasoned and well known marketers. One of them said he averaged $1 per lead and the other said he averages $8 to $11 per lead but only sells high dollar products. Hope this helps.
