Integrate Forum With Wordpress Blog

I have my wordpress site set up and am getting 100+ visitors a day, but I would like to figure out a way to make the visitors sticky. Obviously, I need to integrate a newsletter into my site, but I am also thinking about building a forum onto my website.

Do any of you have any suggestions for forums that integrate well with wordpress? Any plugins I should get? Are there any walkthroughs on setting this up that you would recommend?

Thanks in advance!

A fairly "simple" but good solution for a Forum

    Yes, look for BBPress.

I'm not too sure but I think there's a vB plugin that bridges vB and wordpress. Maybe you want to look at that at some point.

Another vote for BBPress - very easy to use!

The key word here is "integrate" which broadly involves two things: matching themes and integrating logins and posts.

Any forum can be run alongside a WP blog but getting the two playing together happily is a different story.

I tried a few options and finally settled on Simple:ress. In fact I wish I had tried that first, as most of what I wanted was working out of the box. It uses the WP database and so logins are synchronized and blog posts can be automatically linked to forum topics with a "discuss this on the forum" link below each post. Most of the theme is inherited from the WP theme and just needed minor tweaks.

      Overall I was very impressed.

BBPress is not so easy to integrate despite being produced by the same company.

If you want an easy setup with good results, go with Simple:ress.
