What's the best e-book cover software out there? I'm looking for something that does a good job for a reasonable price...not looking for the absolute best at a high price.

Well it is not the best and most highest quality.. Does produce some nice ebook covers though.. Software works well but does take some memory.. I made this cover with the software below.

I think you should get your cover in 2d first, then convert it to a 3d cover. And you would need the covers to be personalized, so I couldn't say a website is good for that, maybe outsourcing?

If you're good at Photoshop, Mark Monciardini's CoverActionPro is the best

    Good LUck!

Hey Andyf, I've recently been in the same position looking for some decent ebook cover software. So, I did a fair bit of poking around and actually downloaded all of the free trials I could find. The result of my search ended in the eventual purchase of eCoverSuiteElite | ebook cover software . Frankly, It's absolutely awesome!

I've seen Mark Monciardini's photoshop actions all over the place, but I actually think eCoverSuiteElite's actions are better.
I used to use Blender 3D to create my own, but that took ages - with eCoverSuiteElite It only takes a few minutes (It practically does all the work for you!)

So, that's my two cents - here's the link if you wanna take a look...

I built the below covers with Quick 3D Cover (Quick 3D Cover - Home (boxshots, e-books covers, CD Jewel cases, DVD-cases, templates).)

I built the front and side images in my graphics editor and then stitched them together in the Quick 3D Cover software.

I am not good at graphics but am pleased with how it all came out. (Obviously a lot of the outcome depends on your graphics design skills.)

It has lots of templates for you to work with for all sorts of products - books, CDs, DVDs, etc.

The best that I found so far is Ebook Cover Software | eCovers | Ebook Covers.

It's a set of Photoshop action scripts.
Easy to use, works only with English language Photoshop though.

    Hi Andy,

You will find lot of good action scripts online. But the final product will depend how good you create your Cover's Front design. The script only will give it a 3D form. The free templates available are BS.

If you are really serious about your product get the design done by a designer and the salespage written by a copywriter (unless you are an expert in it). These are the little investments you need to make to get your product running.

So first make sure you have a good design ready then use any 3D action script.

    Good luck!

I think anyone who has a single creative bone in their body should take a shot at creating their own e-covers. You may discover that you really have a knack for it, as I've discovered in myself!

However, as you probably know, it isn't just the TOOL you use that makes a great e-cover, it's the ability to create a compelling FLAT image that goes on to be transformed into the 3D cover. As an example (and with no offense schabotte intended) I took his original concept (title and city skyline) and created this image in about 20 minutes:

He may prefer the one he made for himself, and that's absolute great. However, I think I personally do a pretty good job myself, because it is something that comes naturally to me.

If you struggle with graphics and design, then no tool is going to be a magic wand for you and you may end up wasting more time than it's worth. As an example, I'm running a WSO doing covers for Warriors for less than $10 each (see sig). So if you're not adept at cover design, you may spend hours struggling to get something that looks good, or you can pay me $10 to do it and spend those hours selling more product.

I would recommend hiring someone to create it for you vs using software. The reason is if you can use the software it will be using a template that others will have seen OR you'll need to create the image yourself and can probably do it on your own with photoshop.

However, if you're not "awesome" at graphics, don't do it yourself! Bad graphics will seriously hurt your sales. It just looks cheap.

You can visit Web graphics guru develops graphics for web sites worldwide - Design Guru Ryan and get an ebook cover for $115 that is the same quality as Mike Filsaime and Google Nemesis's products. (It's actually the same artist!)

It's a small but important investment to have your site and ebooks look great.
