Somehow I doubt anyone will reveal info like that. The only way to know is to carry out some research yourself.

I think the same way.

Finding a good niche takes time, research and effort so I don't think someone's gonna reveal their secrets.

Just start with something and find out for yourself.

Ok Ok! I see where this is heading, just dont quite understand the big secrecy.
After all its a huge market, what the harm of telling what niche your into?
If you want to keep it a secret that's ok with me, just interested how the market is divided up, that's my main interest.

I think your question is too broad, and that there are far too many variables involved to get a pinpoint answer,

but i think if you do research well, keyword research well, content creation and generate traffic etc, then im sure that you can do well in any of the niches you have described above.

I can see where you're coming from but it will still come across as being a little bit too nosey.

I think that there are genuinely people that will want to help but unfortunately where money is involved then people obvioisly want to protect their interests! I'd love to tell you mine but unfortunately can't sorry!

I would grab hold of a copy of some keyword research tools (or use the Google AdWords Keyword Tool) and just try and figure some out.

What I normally do is just look around me and type some stuff in and take it from there, its amazing what you find. :-)

Going very well this year. We've been able to grow our staff by two employees, and expand our methods for producing revenue. Everyone needs software, and that is something that will only increase.

As dvduval mentioned, the big money is on software / scripts / app's but it takes more than that, a good support, regular updates, a community which will create templates, plugins etc ... So an interaction for the same purpose, basically its like creating a new niche

Personally I'm spread in almost all the niches you mentioned in your poll, some are doing quite well for me however a lot of time and dedication is needed

I am in the dog niche for right now. I think when I get it fully automated I am going to venture into some others. I don't know why the niche thing is so secretive here. I mean it's not really hard to see what a lot of people are into here anyway.

I mean maybe the site is costing you what 10 bucks a month but buying software is costing you money?

I have went through your list of software and there is nothing there that is unique.

Everything you have you can get for free from free giveaway sites.

Either that or you can join a plr program and pay 10 bucks a month and get the same software your selling accept you will get all new software.

There is a lot to work with, like others mentioned you can use tools to do this research, I'm working in different niches or markets as I go instead of just one.

True.. But my guess would be that profits made from the niche in question would be much higher without competition than with, even when you take into account the cost of custom work vs. PLR.

Don't forget that PLR is intended for a pretty large market, which would almost necessitate competition before its availability would be viable. Marketers would probably stand to lose a lot more money by revealing their profitable niches than they would gain by saving a few bucks per article.

However, it's probably a better idea for those people to use software or carry out some independent research of their own if they want any actual guidance. Whether it's good or bad, IMers are seriously unlikely to give up anything more than their general umbrella market.

I've never been involved in any sort of a serious offline business marketing effort, so I can't speak to that.

Hmmmm, I'm not in the Make Money niche, nor do I have any plans to be.

You do realize you are listing markets, not niches. Diet is a Market, filled with literally thousands of niches. Make Money is a market, filled with offline, at home, online, direct mail, and hundreds if not thousands of niches. And so on....

Your best bet is to choose a market you enjoy, then start finding niches and sub-niches within it to carve out your corner of the market.

I create content for people in almost all of those markets, and create some content for myself in several markets. As many people have already said, I'm not going to tell you my niches within the markets.

You surprised me with one major market missing from your list: Dating/Relationships

Most people are not going to tell you specifics because you're a competitor you near to brainstorm up yourself a big list and sort the wheat out from the chaff I use this criteria.

Does it fill a desperate need or a burning desire is it does neither I normally drop it like a hot stone.

There are so many niches other than make money online and the ones you listed. You won't get seasoned marketers telling you what niches they are in, how much money they make, or what their profitable niches are.

It wouldn't take long to saturate a good niche by telling everyone on the Internet what it is.

  I'm crushing it in the 'Biodegradable Headstones" niche. That niche is even better than the 'DVD/CD Rewinder' niche, which, by the way, outperforms 'Turtle CPR' by a long shot.
  
  My WSOs were sold out before I had time to even write them.
  
  So I didn't. That kept the refund rate at below zero. You can't beat that...

I'm into the "make money online" market, mostly. I'm also of the school that you can penetrate pretty much any market you want, as long as you're decent at keyword research. There are practically endless niche possibilities in every market, and there are new search trends popping up all the time. Those trends aren't competitive when they first start - they just get that way after everyone finds out about them. If you learn what to look for and find a new one as it's starting out, you're golden.

So far 50% say "other", god knows that that means/is....

Im going to spend this year moving away from info products and focus on software. Im hoping that Im right, but I think the customer mindset is a lot different in terms of those buying software as opposed to those buying $7 ebooks.
