What is the best way to get your articles ranked?

Articles on your own site or in an article directory?

It's a bit of a wide question but how about optimising for the keyword you want to target and then building some backlinks?

Building back links to them, any type of back link will work : blog comments, forum, etc.

Basically you are saying market your article just like you would a website regardless of whether or not it is on your own site or in a directory. Correct?

Yes, but i usually wait and pick a couple of the best placed articles, where competition on top spots can be undertaken easily. Building back links and not ranking it's even worse than not doing and link building for them.

Hmm, how do you rank articles that are listed on article directories? Posting a comment with a link from someone's blog post would be marked as spam, right?

Spam comments are irrelevant to blog page content. As long your comment add content to the blog and your url is not some weird site everything is ok.

Yeah, you'd market the article the same way you market a regular website. Articles are usually easier to market and rank than a (new) domain, though, since the domain you've hosted the article on already has some authority with Google - especially if the article directory you're using is Ezine Articles. Build links using other authority sites - web 2.0 sites like wordpress, blogspot, and hubpages are great for that.

Create an article and add your article link in the arthor box.
Then use Magic Article Submitter and send your article to 100`s of directories.
