Free Giveaway Opinion

Hello Everyone

So, i woke up this morning and decided to go check some of my emails i use to sign up on other peoples lists.

This is so crazy.

i would have to say, 99% of the emails are "download this free gift".

So i'm sifting through all of this and downloading all these free gifts just to see how valuable they are to me.

I am so amazed people even join these lists.

I mean most of these free books and software are just pure junk.

When i give something away i either pay some good money to have some software made or i write the book myself or i make sure their good plr products.

What i see is mostly rehashed junk from 2007 or just a copy of someone elses work.

Heres the best one i found was like 5 emails from 5 different marketers giving away the same free template pack.

I cant understand why anyone would even download these lame templates.

Who would actually use them.

My son Jordan is 9 years old and a pretty smart kid and i can guarantee that he can make better templates than those that i have seen, matter of fact he just started learning visual basics six and could probably code better software.

Sad part is most of these emails i get are from like well known guru types.

So my question is.

Does this method really work when you give away junk?

When i join someones list its usually because they are well known and seem to know what there doing but it seems all i have been getting lately are these free giveaways that really just don't have any value.

Give aways work pretty well for me, but I always offer something unique. No old products, thank you...

Let me put it this way:

When you give away junk, people will guess that your paid products
are junky too. You may be able to give away junk and sell products
at $7-15, but at some price-point your rep for shoddy quality will
go before you... at least with your house-list promotions.

Free samples should show quality, and offer some value, but also
serve to remind the customer that the real action is in your paid
    products and services.

The higher you set the bar with your free stuff, the higher will
be expectations for your paid stuff - but you'll also be on your
    way to having real fans.

Kevin Hogan is a great example of somebody who gives away
better content than most marketers in his field have in their
    best paid material.

What's trash to you might be gold to someone else.. if you've been round the block the few times it's going to be kinda difficult to find something of "value".

If you're new to the game, some of this free stuff can really help a newbie get their feet through the door.

      Thanks MJ

Actually your absolutely right. I guess being in marketing for a period of time you knid of see evey product out there.

I do remember a time when i first started marketing.

Products were of good value but it just seems like products have really gone down hill.

Heres a squeeze page generator i found and i couldn't believe the amount of effort someone went through to build a great site for this software i could of coded in 5 minutes.

I dont know. I guess i just figured if your going to create something to give away at least put in as much efforts as you would creating a product that your selling.

After all this is your list your giving these free products away too.

It depends on what your definition of junk is of course. Just because you do not like a particular giveaway doesn't mean someone else won't. Also just because you saw the product previously a couple years earlier doesn't mean everyone else did too. Having said that I have been giving away old eBooks for years now and I consistently get anywhere between 40 - 60% conversion rates doing it. But it also depends on who your target audience is as well. Most of the subscribers on my list are brand new to Internet marketing so any free information on it they can get from me they jump all over. But I do know what I am doing when it comes to selecting the giveaway. You need to make sure it actually is something that can benefit the folks who download it.

Giving away a free product can help you and your business, just be up to date, and get them something that they will find helpful, or would have expected to have to pay for.

A good hungry niche report may not seem like much but it could be of big help to many, and others may say "oh I already know that information" I agree that the better the product you come up with the better off you are.

It will always boost up my sales and subscribers as evevryone wants something valuable in return.

I always provide quality stuff whether it is:

        Free report
        Hub/lens
        PLR articles
        Mini site etc

    Hey Craig,

No offense, but when I clicked your signature link "Some Free Stuff" to see the valuable stuff you're giving away, it seems you're giving away the same stuff that alot of others are giving away.

[EDIT : He has since removed that link from his signature but it was the same stuff that the link below was giving away]

    http://www.warriorforum.com/make-mon...onus-book.html

Just curious, but why would you start this thread? It seems a little hypocritical to me.

Yes your right but if you read the post i am talking about emails not signature links. Also if you signed up you would see that is just part of what you get.

It also comes with other free books that i wrote and 3 software programs that i created myself.

I have had that site for quite some time now that i just never got around to changing the page yet.

Its not being hypocritical just making a point. If you look at when that signature was placed you can see it was done on purpose.

      Thanks for taking the bait.

OK semantics. If I have to pay for your product, then I am not getting it free.

          Traffic from Google... free.

Product teaching how to get free traffic from Google... not free.

Maybe he'll later put out a free product and tell you to pay Google for traffic instead, but I'm pretty sure that'll cost a lot more than what he charges >

What if I said to you "Drive around for a week for free". Then when you clicked I said all you have to do is pay me $200 for car hire. Not free by any means.

            Just playing games with words.

Even after all the explanation your still not understanding.

I think marketing is not for you man.

Where does it say i am giving away my product. It doesn't.

It says: Get Tons Of Traffic From Google For Free
It doesnt say: Get The Google Traffic Pump System For Free

Well, to be brutally honest... people are lazy sons of bitches.

Give them a PLR product, show them all the AMAZING ways they can poke, prod, stretch, rip, and slice a product to make their own, and then guess what... the vast majority don't do anything with it at all, and the ones who do make very minimal changes (if any at all).

I'm sure that the people who created such giveaways in the first place took advantage of this fact by not putting forth a terrible amount of effort, but you'll still see these ebooks written in 2006 in "AMAZING MASSIVE GIVEAWAY Each Sells for $27..."
