How long it did take you to make REAL money?

For me it took a while.. messing around with different systems, jumping from one thing to the next.. like a lot of people it just caused more problems and delays.

So for the rest of you guys, from your very first *idea*, how long before you started seeing real money?

Like, from the moment you thought "I can do this and make money from it", when you first started out.. before you failed for the XXX time (like we all do).

And to those of you who ain't making money yet - don't jump onto the next system you see, stick with what you've got right now and it will work eventually, failing is giving up. Nothing more.

Took me about 2 weeks to make a few dollars, but about 9 months to make a few thousand. That first year was mostly learning and testing things to see if they were actually the same as the theory.

It took me three months to make real money.

I started to make real money when I had a real reason to take action and when I understood what I actually want in life and what I want to do with the money that I will earn.

Once I had that reason, I had the desire and drive to make this work and to work on it each and every day. Ten days after that realization and 3 months after learning about IM, I started to make real money.

      Cheers,
      Mario

1 month after starting to play around with SEO.

Wish I had all the information shared (paid and free) that
    it's available nowdays.

It was all try and fail kind of approach for me. But still managed
to get up to $2k - $3k the first month I did it. I started by doing
black hat SEO and it worked like a charm for a while, till Google implemented
spam filters into the search engine.

    My advice for a newbie?

Choose one system you feel comfortable doing money (video marketing, SEO,
article marketing, social marketing ... ) and work on it till you make at least
$500 - $1000 from it. Change your niche and do it again.

I was jumping around from system to system last year and made some pocket money but not what I would call real money. This year I've picked two systems that I'm sticking with until they start to generate at least $1000 a month.

It took me a couple of years. At the time I didn't know what was going to lead to the money, but then it just kind of came together.

I think 15-20 days. I started sometime around Jan, 2008 and sold my first crappy site for $40 in Feb first week.

Took me 5 months to make my first $1000, though.

it took me a few months - two or three. Then I did not make anything for years until I decide to offer a service. I started by charging $100 a client and i was making almost a thousand a month. Then I got greedy and increased my fee to $150,then my income went down. Now I am back to charging the same $100 that I started with. Now sales is coming back

It depends how you define 'real money'

It took me around 18 months to start making a substantial full time income.

I made money along the way but it was very thin.

Like most warriors I wasted a lot of time educating myself which would have been better spent taking fully committed action on the knowledge I already had.

To be fair I was doing other things too.

I would expect someone who was seriously committed and took action on every piece of good information they gathered to go from zero to a full time income within 2-6 months of starting.

You'd have to expect a large learning curve and work very hard to achieve that.

          Kindest regards,
          Andrew Cavanagh

Enough to live off, quit your job, give you a decent standard of living etc.. real money, not beer money or 'a little extra'.
