Do you use Twitter in your IM biz?

Some people depend upon Twitter for success. Others use it for more casual purposes. How do you use Twitter?

Personally, I have a very difficult time breaching the 100 follower mark without automated software, and I am having a difficult time finding free software to help! I don't use Twitter to blatantly spam. I engage, converse, ask and answer. But even a sociable twitter such as myself is having a hard time getting followers.

So do you use Twitter? If so, how do you use it, what software do you use, and what has your success been? And how do you gain followers/customers?

If you don't look at Twitter as strictly a marketing tool but rather a way to connect with those interested (more like a mailing list) it is really powerful. It may be hard to sell on Twitter, but it's not hard to build a readership that will be interested to see all your new blog posts. Just depends on how you use it.

I started using Twitter to complete this project that I was working on. At first I didn't have enough followers to complete the Task. So I went to my Social Sites and posted my link on there and ask my friends to follow me. After that I started getting followers that I didn't know.

I don't use any software. I simply stay away from creating profiles that uses photos of pretty girls....lol.....You will get followers if you genuine and avoid trying to sell your followers something in every post. Good luck!

The best use of Twitter, I've found, has been to include your twitter link as part of a "Table" you include at the end of your eBook(s). I always include a 'contact table', and include my Twitter account, along with various other social media avenues for people to contacting me (Facebook, MySpace, Linkedin)

....people may have questions or concerns, and Twitter is just one tool that can help you connect with the people you are serving.

you can increase the number of TARGETED followers by using one of the available viral tweet scripts that allow you to reward visitors for their tweet and follow.

You could offer a free gift to your visitors, and instead of adding an autoresponder form code, add a viral tweet form that requires people to tweet and follow you in order to get the gift.

I've really seen my number of followers grow since I added such a viral tweet form next to my AR form code - giving my visitors the choice to either follow me on Twitter, or sign up for my mailing list.

(You can submit such a freebie to a couple of free JV Giveaway events and get hundreds of extra visitors/subscribers/followers)
