What width emails do you like to see in your inbox? (Please vote!)

I started a thread about HOW to change the width of emails and I got some comments about what is actually better.

What kind of emails make you read them? What turns you on/off?

1) Ones that are narrow column width?
2) Ones that are stretched out to the size of the email window and look more like a friend sent you something?

Obviously, #2 looks less like a "marketing email" but may not be as "easy to read" and might have a lower response rate.

    I don't care about the column width because my email program formats
    everything perfectly regardless of how it's sent.

    I care more about the content itself.

    A fancy wrapper over crap is still crap.

    Just give me something that helps me.

        I like text emails that are usually narrow and where I can scroll if it something I am interested in. I like plenty of spaces in it so that I can view (and click quickly on ) the website and download links. It is all about fast, as I do get a lot of emails...

    Split test it on your own list to see which gives you a better response -- it's much more accurate than our opinions.
