Looking for Warrior Wisdom

Dear Warriors,

I've just created my first serious Facebook Fan page promoting Fat Loss 4 Idiots.

Real Weight Loss | Facebook

The page incorporates video, an auto-responder bribe and another bribe which requires people to become a fan. It is also auto fed with content from one of my adwords sites via RSS.

Would appreciate any feedback on the content and user experience for this page as well as any advice as to how I can maximize my return when I advertise it.

Thanks
Nick

    Nick,

If you can get people to look at your "Free Book" page, that page at least has a nice professional graphic of the book. I think the title, alone, will cause a few to sign up and get it just to see what it could possibly talk about....exercising without effort seems a bold statement to make, considering most would probably think that effort would be required--contradicting common knowledge and what we know exercise to be--that could be a good thing that results in more sign-ups....

I'm not 100% sure about elephant with the measuring tape around it...

Perhaps, you could have something even more professionally done by someone you could engage at elance.com or scriptlance.com?

I scrolled down and, it looks like you have 2 "fans"....

What have you been doing to promote this, Nick?...

...I think you need to ditch the elephant...

    Thank x3x,

I currently haven't done anything to promote it as the page was only made public a few minutes before my original post.

Thanks for the feedback, I can change the landing page so I will split test all three. I'm curious to understand why you feel the elephants won't work, since your profile suggests that you are not in the target demographic for the product. Have you had experience in this niche? What would you replace them with?

    Thanks
    Nick

I am all for fresh, innovative ideas, but the elephants aren't doing it for me either.

They may make for a funny picture, but not for a weight loss page that I can take seriously.

    Thanks Emily,

I get that the elephants are not "doing" it. What would be helpful would be pointers or examples of what would be best to replace them with.

The elephant is confusing. It does not connect with the product or ANY person/visitor.

Replace the elephant with a pic of a woman with a tape measure around her flat stomache.

Your users need to immediately "get" your message...when it is confusing, they hit that back button instead of your intended button(s).

Many people can relate to weight loss issues...pics of PEOPLE...NOT animals. A pic of a heavy set woman would be better than the elephant.

Hope this helps and cheers to moving forward!

They are cute, but they seem more appropriate for a funny pictures blog, or something of that nature.

That's what I meant - you can use them on a site you're supposed to take with a grain of salt and get a good laugh, but not a site you're promoting a business on.

    Hello Nick.

My suggestions for you is start writing quality articles and submit them to Ezinearticles.com then ping your article posting links to your face book page! Also instead of giving away your materials completely free at least create squeeze page with opt in box and start collecting your visitors or fans name and email addresses, besides squeeze page converts much better than web pages. Good Luck.

    Jamian.
