Some very clever Product Lauch Advice from a very clever bald man...

A "case study" of Apple's Ipad Launch, from Mr Godin's Blog

Seth's Blog: Secrets of the biggest selling launch ever

What I like especially is the advice about not worrying about having a big launch day. Running a successful IM business is a process. Not an event (EDIT* Never-the-less it is crucial to plan and execute a product launch - just remember that the business still needs love after Launch day)

Happy reading

PS What the heck is a Product Lauch?? (Spot my typo in the thread title )

I thought your post was going to be about Thomas Belknap.

On the other hand, he took the time to dissect the launch and share it with others. If it's important enough for him to analyze and blog about it, he probably ranks it as a fairly important thing to do.

He makes a lot of good points. Instead of "iPad" and "Apple," substitute the later Harry Potter books and J.K. Rowling... and you'll see his most of his points work across products and niches.

    ***

    And just an aside...

Look at his blogging strategy of grabbing onto the coattails of some big news. That's a smart thing to do in and of itself. Had he dissected Mattel's latest Barbie launch, I bet you wouldn't have posted about it here.

    cheers,
    Becky

Becky, the subject line said "very clever", not devious.

      There's a difference, you know.

PS. I had the same thought myself...

What a coincidence, I just had tomato soup for launch today.

Just when you think you've got it all figured out, someone changes the rules.

Seth simply rocks. He's easily one of the top business analyst/authors on my personal list...

... although you will find a very mixed reaction to him at Warrior Forum because of the spamtastic lemmings who hate him over his lockdown of Squidoo over trash lenses and garbage, nonsensical content that adds no value and functions solely as a Google magnet to (mis)direct people to some cheese puff Clickbank trinket.

@ Becky - A very valid point you make. It is important to plan and execute a launch well. No bones about it. I was being too flippant with my previous comment. Thanks for your input and pointing that out to readers.
Despite saying I would use barbie... I probably would not have commented!! lol ( also great call about what Seth comments on. Its news-grabbing content in itself.) Cheers, Andrew

@Michael - Agreed. Seth is compulsory reading. Thanks for the comments. I concur!

Some pretty cool nuggets of info in there.

I'll be using our very own WF blog feature for my own future product launches. I've never bothered with any product launches before... I'll usually just let the adcopy speak for itself. I wonder what sort of difference Seth's tips will make. Time to give it a shot me thinks.

Thanks for posting and giving me some insight.

Gotta love that crunchy new age 'tribe' granola coating on ideas that P.T. Barnum described over 100 years ago.
