YouTube, We've Had A Problem...

Hey Warriors,

For the past couple of days I have been seeing more and more embedded YouTube videos on websites not being able to play.

The message I've been getting is: "An error occured, please try again later." I checked one of my sites which has an embedded YouTube video and it had an identical error as well.

I checked my code and grabbed the code again from the site, since YouTube made some changes recently so I thought that may have something to do with it, but it didn't do the trick.

There a similar thread on this a few days ago but it didn't get a reply: http://www.warriorforum.com/main-int...hlight=youtube

Is this a technical problem with YouTube or even a new slap?

Fabian

I have a feeling that some people may be changing their copyright settings on embeds.

If this is the case, then the video in question may cease to play after the settings update.

Perhaps this could be the reason why?

    Hi Michael,

I have my own settings on my own video as 'Share your video with the world' and 'Yes, external sites may embed and play this video'...

Unless there is some mystery new setting I'm not aware of?

    Hi Fabian

    Consider this scenario for instance.

If you initially had this option selected:

'Yes, external sites may embed and play this video'

... and a while later, decided to unselect this option at a later date.

What would happen to the video's playback on other websites once this setting changed?

You're missing Fabian's point... HIS video that HE has CONTROL over won't play. HE has checked HIS settings and it still doesn't work. I'd suggest it's a problem with youtube.

      ~my 2 cents~

That's what I was driving at.

Others have reported the same problem as well, so this might be a YouTube snafu of some sort.

Fair enough but he never stated that it was HIS videos that weren't playing... so I made an (incorrect) assumption that he meant other videos on other websites that people were embedding.

My honest mistake. I do apologize

Fabian, I've seen this also. It's funny that you pose that question. I think it is something, but if anyone knows for sure then I would want to know as well.

This error is displayed when the player does not receive the stream within a certain timeout period. There are many reasons for this, proxy servers, bad network devices, youtube server failures, excessive YT traffic when something goes viral, ISP foul-ups, and the list goes on.

This has happened to me twice and I later discovered that the uploaded video was taken down...it seems like it was recently (like that day). Maybe youtube is just slow to update.
