ULTIMATELY ITS ALL ABOUT TRAFFIC. I mean

no matter the method you use, its all about getting large amounts of traffic to your landing page.

And u can either do that the organic way or the PPC way .

That's the conclusion that i have come to.

There are four essential components to an online offer.
    • An excellent offer or product
    • A smart-looking Website
    • A great sales page
    • Targeted Traffic
I think you'll find the hardest element (though the most important one) in the mix is getting the right visitors to your offer. I wonder how many agree...

The conversion rate is just as important as the traffic. 1,000 hits that convert at 1% is just as good as 10 hits that convert at 100%!

Thanks for such a simple zen like statement on the truth. Just make sure its large amounts of targeted traffic.

Its a shame how many people in IM fail to realize this. Maybe thats why so many people fail at IM.

Well you may have tons of traffic, but if your landing page doesn't convert you aren't going to make money.

There are a a bunch of other variables to take into consideration when it comes to monetization.

You're right. But... It's all for nothing without traffic. You can put on a multi-mullion dollar production of Romeo and Juliet but if no one comes, it's wasted. Traffic is the key in this, and any other business. Anyone who can consistently drive traffic to a site is GOLDEN.

I agree to an extent. It is about traffic but all the traffic without conversions is useless. It is knowing what to do with that traffic that ULTIMATELY matters.

It not all about one component... If you look at traffic, it needs to be targeted, then you need to know how to get it, then your need to know how to convert it, then you need to know how to turn it into a relationship... THERE IS NO ONE THING, it is lots of small little cogs put together to turn it into cash.

Yes. If you get lots of untargeted traffic, you can often convert it to another product or sales strategy.

Another over generalization that doesn't really make any sense in the real business world. It's not all about traffic. The traffic has to convert. And if it's really targeted traffic you actually don't need "large amounts". I'm not really sure who you were trying to advise in your post, but it was inaccurate at best.

Targeted traffic is the most important element followed by basic traffic (not so targeted)
If you've got the quality high traffic, you'll still see conversions on a sloppy offer. If you have the most irresistible offer ever and no traffic or low quality traffic, your conversion rate will be low to non-existent. So what you need is:

High quality high traffic flow - interested prospects
The irresistible offer. (squeeze/ sales page, product) - conversion
Opt-in Retention - Building the relationship with pure value and over-delivery
I disagree that targeted traffic is the most important element. I personally think having the right offer is the most important element. There's really no point in arguing about this though since they're actually both important.

Well, sometimes your offer can be so good that people can't help but spread it around. Case in point, icanhascheezburger.com and failblog.org. They simply offered funny pics and did zero advertising yet they have more traffic than you I'm sure.

I know those sites are entertainment based web sites, but hey they make 7 figs in advertising!

while yes it's their traffic tactic, my point is that it all started with them asking themselves "what are we offering people?" the offer was the most important element in this case, because if they didn't have the right offer they would receive none of this traffic.

btw, i'm not arguing about whether or not we NEED targeted traffic to build a profitable internet business because i feel that's already a given.

I have been trying something different and it really works well. In my opinion this is far better than PPC, safelists, calssifieds, articles, forums and the rest. . I did a test by putting the site I was promoting on Google and then put it on a CPV site. I got almost nothing on the ppc but thousands of hits on the CPV site. Not only that the CPV site (if you choose the correct one) can cost you about .02 per view and not the enoumous prices google charges. It is highly targeted traffic and your website is viewed in a seperate window about 800X600 resolution. No there is not spyware or adware involved in this type of advertising.

I am making more money, spending less on advertising, and woud recommend to anyone.

Let me know if you need more information.

I did SEO for one year on one of my sites - I got to page 1 in Google within 6 weeks then disappeared back to page 40 or so after that - this year I switched to PPC and got 10 sales in one weekend!

Here's my 2 cents.. and I've had this written in my business journal for years, when I was struggling online to make an income, I took some time out and here's what I came up with..

"Making money online comes down to 2 metrics & 2 metrics only TRAFFIC & CONVERSION - Master them both".

Word for word that is what is written in my journal.

In a nutshell, nothing else matters..

Traffic is easy, you just need to get focused on one method and then hit it hard.

Conversion aswell, all you need to do is find out your customers main objections for not converting, buying, clicking.. whatever.

How do you find this out... easy.. Ask them!

There are plenty of tools online that make this a breeze.

A company I worked with has the best conversion rate tips article you are EVER likely to see.. Here is is: Google Website Optimizer - 108 Free Tips | Conversion Rate Experts

        Apply it, it's dynamite.

Ultimately it is all about the traffic..... Without it, whether online of offline, you can't make any money.

Once you get the traffic, everything else "NEEDS" to be in place to make the sale.. RIGHT!

    I think it's better stated:

    It all BEGINS with traffic.

If you have no traffic, nothing else matters.

Agreed it's ultimately about the traffic, that is whilst you don't have any. Once you have the traffic then it is ultimately about getting that traffic to convert.

It is also worthwhile adding audio files to your landing pages with a call to action. Doing you tube videos or starting your own talk show will get your message across. It build on all your target marketing efforts.

Well, assuming we are not talking about junk/low quality traffic, I agree. Once you have the traffic, it is just a case of monetizing it.
