The challenge of IM is Killing me!!!!

How does one get out of a rut without spending money? Also how do you weed through the crap and the good material. Everyday I read about someone's list building system, backlink system, etc, etc,

Trying to stay focus but also keep adding more knowledge base.

The most simple system available is you, a product and an article, and this can be done for free.

Even if it takes you years to perfect it, you can get started right away for nothing.

This is great news have been developing my own unique niche product that I have alot of faith in just working on the videos now...
Just planning on a few months to perfection rather than years...

Great thanks for bringing it back to basics...

    * Create a free blog.

    * Base it around a topic that you find interest in or are passionate about.

    * Create content for said blog

    * Put advertising on your website to monetize traffic.

    * Build links to get more traffic.

    * Rinse and Repeat*

This is an easy way to get started. The trick to this is... actually getting started

Michael, very nicely said... I couldn't agree with you more....

Notice everything he mentioned is free. You don't need to pay for anything.. A great way to start is by picking out a niche you might enjoy or one that you know is very profitable, but not saturated.

Start off by article marketing. Write some very unique articles on the niche you're going to promote and submit them to these article directories such as EZA, GoArticles, ArticleDashBoard and so-on.

There's much more to this than what I have said above, but that is a general place you could start.

It's not just about building blogs though. You have to think of how you're going to monitize this.

For example... you build a blog about say, cooking lobster. People go to your site. They love to read about cooking lobster. You have your blog set up as a site for adsense clicks. How many people are going to click an adsense ad when all they want is to read and copy the recipe? Trust me from experience.. NOT MANY. BUT say you make a blog about the newest and biggest game system out there and you give reviews of which ones are the best/worst/whatever games... give the reader some valuable information and then give them some affiliate links on where to buy the games. You have to keep monitization in focus when creating a blog.

First you need to pick out a way to make money, then you need to pick out a way to drive traffic. Stick with those two until you master it, then start looking for other things.

Check out the 1st link in my sig for more info. I believe it will really help you clear things up.

    1. Create a step-by-step plan.
    2. Take action on your plan.
    3. Stick with it, don't give up.

Yes, it can be that easy. You don't have to understand everything, you will learn as you go. Just pick one money making method and study it hard for a few weeks. Then make your plan and go.

You will make mistakes. So what! It's not life and death. Mistakes and failures are part of the process. They are just feedback, not a statement of who you are. We all make mistakes. The smart ones learn from them.

Don't wait for the right conditions, the perfect timing, the complete plan, the day you know all you need to know, or anything else. Don't wait. Just do it. There is magic in taking action. There is stagnation in waiting. Choose now - stagnation or action.

    -Find a hot market
-Find a product for that hot market
-Find uncompetitive keywords for that hot market
-Build an affiliate-based site with those targeted keywords
-Build backlinks using anchor text with those keywords
-Get ranked in Google (1st page)

    Where are you stuck, exactly?

Have you made a plan? If not, start there.
Decide what you want to get done and then break that down into smaller tasks. Write it out so you can go through the step-by-step plan and check off the steps you've completed.

Then, simply stick to that till it's done. Everything else is just a distraction.
It's not guaranteed to make you money, but it's guaranteed to get you going and, at the very least, teach you a valuable lesson about marketing.

      Keep on building.

      Keep on reading.

Try and build contacts you can rely on for guidance.

Don't spend a dime here until you've got the capital to invest and even then before you buy you need to seek opinions from people you already know and trust.

Once you have some cash then you can more freely purchase products here to augment or diversify your IM operations.

The thing is, I'm not exactly new here. What is killing me is I am investing a lot of time into what I think would be a great and helpful product... put up a WSO on it and it flops. I'm not sure why because this is something my wife and I put a lot of effort into and now she's looking at me wondering why this isn't working.

Am layed off my work and have been working on making IM work for a while now aside from doing some side work like construction. I can't go back to the previous business model because it's just dead.

    I know how to:

Create templates, create mini sites, flip websites, create headers, transfer websites, research keywords, research competition, make ebay stores, make amazon stores, embed RSS and video on sites, utilize plug ins, and just got Photoshop for future graphics creation.

It seems like what I know, everyone already knows. I thought of making a newbie friendly site to share what I know, but isn't everyone already doing that? I like creating templates and have a WSO up for that but it seems like no one needs templates on WF

All we need to supplement what I lost in income is a measley $200 per week. My wife writes - I don't write. But she already works 9 hours a day.

I'm about to just do handyman work on the side but even people needing that type of work aren't paying right now.

It's a good challenge though to see if I can make something in IM work somehow.

Whatever you do, DO NOT get stuck in 'research mode'. Make a plan, take action, and pick up knowledge on the way. You'll learn from mistakes, and you'll learn from what others have found. It's all cool... everyones been there.

But if you're going to sit around 'learning' from other marketer's products and blogs and articles [etc] all day, you might as well pack it up, get a JOB and call it a day. Sounds negative? Of course dude! But reality only sucks if you let it.

You have to pick a point and start moving towards it. Just like flying a plane somewhere... you don't take off in a plane and THEN decide where you want to go (unless you're bored and have nothing better to do, LOL!)

Man, who do you think the big IM "gurus" target? From what I've seen, 10% of people in IM are 'experts'. That leaves 90% nearly clueless. THATS WHERE THE MONEY IS! And what about the thousands of people discovering Internet Marketing each day? We will never run out of noobies.

You should PM me some samples of your work, maybe we can slap together a few ideas to get the ball rollin' for ya again.

    Cheers!

yes - a tough question...may I suggest a better first step at the 30,000 foot level? in the time available in your life for this biz, where are you now? 50%? 100%? 150%? then, on a scale of 1-10, how confident are u that the right amount of time spent will happen fairly soon? also, again 1-10, how passionate r u on the work you're doing right now?

I'm currently getting into website flipping, and it seems you have the skills to do the same. It isn't necessarily a long term business since once the product is sold, you have no residual, but it can help you supplement the family income and help you move onto bigger and better IM projects.

Kecia - if you sell hosting to your clients you will get residual income. Or give them an affiliate link to BlueHost or Hostgator and make extra that way

    Jonlefave - PM sent. Thanks
