how do you market these kind of sites?

hey guys,

ive seen some positive feedbacks regarding e-stores which run on a complete autopilot.

im planning to set up 5 sites in different niches and see if i can monetize.

im technically challenge so creating sites with the plugin of pulling products from ebay or amazon would be easier to make in my opinion, since i dont have to create content from "scratch".

im just wondering how do you promote these kind of sites as i feel that no keywords would be targeted if i create sites such as thsese.

am i missing anything.

i hope someone who is doing the same can make make some clarification.

im sorry for my ignorance but thanks anyway.

Keywords should be targeted and can be targeted... The product description can be your SEOable text and should be optimized for that product name. Normally, I would of thought anyway, these sites rely on PPC mainly until you grow into that viral nature and everyone knows you and then you will just get direct traffic. You could also try doing deals with major forums and blogs in the targeted markets.

It sounds like a good idea, this would probably be easier if you had a specific product to build around rather than a particular niche. But check out ebay or google trends to find out what is being sought out if you want to narrow the focus. Why not make some videos and post with TubeMogul?

      cheers,:p

specific product? you mean to say targeting Wii rather than game consoles such as xbox, PS3 and PSP for instance?

love the idea of video marketing. seems like a lot of work though.

        thanks

how can i make product description if the plugins would just pull all info regarding that particular product?

im totally lost if the KW research process is needed for these kind of sites. if it is, just wondering who it should be done.

so there is no way to get free traffic?

Sure but am I understanding correct, you want to make a site like Amazon? Search free traffic in the search function above, you can always use one of them methods but if it is a site like amazon, they didn't use article marketing etc...

nope man, i do not want to create a site such as amazon.

what i am planning to do is be an affiliate of amazon, create a website with a plugin which pulls products of my particular niche from amazon and gain commision from whatever sale that i could make from my site.

here are two links to what kind of site im talking about.

          Playstation2 Video Games
Laptop Shop | Best Notebook Reviews

I always thought the point of these sites was to rank for some low hanging fruit (product names, product models etc). I'm pretty sure most people use SEO as their main source of traffic. It can be used in conjunction with article marketing, get your article to rank for those terms then point them to your ebay/amazon store.

    Good luck!

Is this positive feedback from those actually making good money using this kind of site - or from the marketers just selling the sites?

Typically, such "turnkey" operations seek to take advantage of anyone who may feel intimidated or technically challenged, as you put it, and who are looking for an ostensibly simple solution. What they don't usually mention is that these general product sites need bucket-loads of traffic to stand any chance of success.

It's a lot easier to concentrate your efforts on a more focused product range - or even one product line - whereby you could target some juicy, long-tail keywords.

I'm not suggesting that you should avoid all such "business-in-a-box" solutions, but it might be prudent to have a traffic-building plan/system in mind beforehand.

And really, putting up a simple one-product page or mini-site with some of the free and low-cost WYSIWYG software available days is usually a fairly painless process.

from marketers who are actually using this kind of site. though i dont really know if the figures that they put in are the actual amount that they are making from this kind of site. LOL...thats why i wanna try to test the waters of these "turnkey" sites myself.

problem is, before i put in some work, i want to know first how to market such sites or should i say the best or the most effective way to monetize.

PPC might be an option but with the low commision that amazon gives to its affiliate, i dont think that i can break even at least. LOL. though im not closing my door yet for PPC.
