Do you prefer video or text product review?

I've been working with both, video and text.

video has a 1% higher conversion rate so far, but it also has a much higher bounce rate

so just out of curiosity? which do you prefer?

For a product review i would always go with the video especially if it is a physical demonstration of how the product works.

It is mainly a matter of personal preference and taste... unless you take in account that roughly half of the population of North America don't posses enough literacy skills to understand a public bus schedule - and they prefer video

Video. It is easier to understand something that is seen and heard. It is also much easier to establish trust with a consumer through video. However, if the consumer is really interested I don't think having it in a video or text format would matter.

I would say that it defenitely depends on the product, but in general I have a tendensy to watch a video rather than read a lot of text.
Maybe you could combine the two with a little bit of introduction text and a short video linked to that? Could that work for you?

For me, if I'm checking something out to buy I always read text reviews first as I don't want to waste my time or bandwidth on a video unless I've established I'm at least a little bit interested.

Then, if the text reviews are compelling enough I might look for some video reviews to help me finalized a purchasing decision.

So I suppose you could say I read more text reviews, but I look at video reviews when I'm closer to actually buying.

I don't know if that's the case for many others, but if it is it might say something about the ability of video to actually close a sale.

From my own experience, video has a higher conversion rate. I personally prefer videos as well.

Personally I like a mix of both. A video up the top with text underneath.

70% of visitors are readers and 30% are visual and audio

I usually prefer reading myself. It is so much faster to read than wait for someone to say something.

I prefer text most of the time. Video is just way too slow.

I prefer reading. I never ever watch videos until I want to see something done on the computer screen as it takes a lot of time and if someone is disturbing me it is harder to understand what someone is saying on video...

I would prefer if given an option of both. And the video shouldn't start automatically.

Personally I *always* prefer text. I'm always busy and want to get an answer quickly so I can't be bothered to sit through a long video. With text I can quickly scan, grab the nuggets I need and make a decision. Video causes me to click straight back and go off to your competitor.

    All the best,
    Richard

It depends upon the nature of product and also on personal choices. Few prefer to go with video for some as it helps to understand better how the product works whereas for some that require more details and are a bit complicated I go with reading the text only for better understanding.

  • For a review? then it's gotta be video: much easier to show around the product features and benefits.

Nothing gets me to the back button quicker than a video, but I'm obviously not the majority.
