My Best Converting Article Resource Box Format

I have tried various forms of resource boxes and after publishing hundreds of articles over a period of 6 months in a particular niche... this one has the highest conversion ratio:

I am not sure whether this would work for every niche... but in my experience it coverts well for health, wellness, fitness, self improvement and other niches along that line.

According to theory, social proof converts well. Social proof is preached by many of the marketers and also by Robert Cialdini who wrote the book Influence. I have another resource box which implies hundreds of people like the reader have took action. But the above one which implies the opposite converts better. Strange how things work.

  • Resource boxes were always difficult for me. Thanks for this tip.
  • I use an author box pretty similar to the one you mentioned, but I like to add "Are you Kidding Me" at the beginning.

I actually had a few people write me and ask me what they thought I was kidding about. Very few people, but it seems to work... Crazy if you ask me, but I'm sticking to what works, right?

Thanks for the author/bio box info... I will definitely try that one right now.

    • Many of my articles revolve around 10-20%. But the ones with the above resource box gets around 25-30%!!!
  • Nice tips here. I've recently stepped into self-improvement niche. I'll split test with your resource box soon.
  • Thats great! I'm totally going to integrate that into my marketing plan.
  • Good tip - good resource box that conveys the truth while simultaneously challenging the reader to succeed and then putting a time frame on their taking action.

Lately I've been experimenting with writing articles that are in a story telling fashion and then using the resource box to convey that the writer was once in the same situation as the reader but everything changed after getting such and such product.

A typical resource box for this style of writing might look something like the following:

For years I suffered pain and embarrassment from repeatedly catching a yeast infection due to bacterial vaginosis. Finally, I discovered a quick and safe way to prevent yeast infections by naturally eliminating the symptoms associated with these irritating infections. Visit WEBSITE URL to learn how I prevented my yeast infections and how you can to.

    • Thanks for sharing this resource box.

Time to test it with my own articles and track the CTR

    • Nice one there. This works well for the medication & similar industries where people are looking to eliminate the negative.

But for wellness and self improvement industry, it about going to the positive instead of eliminating the negative. In such situations, empathy cannot be used as much as in your case.
  • LoL good idea.. Certainly the viewer doesn't want to be in the 90% average crowd :-)

No matter how much average , common or stupid he is, he will click the link to see whatz there.. Great one and thx for sharing

  • I'm going to thank both Deepak and Alexa, because you're both right.

You must weigh the offer against your desire for high CTR or high conversion.

You can use your articles to pre-qualify, pre-sell, and then send definite buyers through to a sales offer from Clickbank or a physical product.

BUT....If you're promoting an email submit CPA offer, I'd prefer to have the higher CTR, and not worry so much about pre-qualifying, or really even pre-selling. The only thing I'd want to sell is the idea that it is easy, and CLICK HERE. I'm not asking for a hard decision, or money.

This all goes back to what Steven Wagenheim preaches in many of his posts....not everything works the same way for every market or every situation, TEST, test, Test.....

    • Rob,
Very true.........hopefully by the time they reach your site they are about as targeted as they get. Consider the following:

1 - If you use the right keyword phrase for your article content/article title they find your article on the first page of Google - First Target Goal Achieved

2 - They click on your search engine link and end up on your article - Second Target Goal Achieved

3 - They read your article from top to bottom and click on the link in your resource box in order to go to your webpage - Third Target Goal Achieved

4 - After arriving on your webpage they either opt-in to become a subscriber of your list, purchase a product you are selling, click on an adsense ad, complete a CPA offer or some other montization method you have established - Final Target Goal Achieved

CTR is important but unless the Final Target Goal is achieved it means very little.

      Tim
  • Alexa has a point. But you can also craft your articles to get a 40% CTR with product recommendations in the article and make sales(although the niche has to have some traffic).

The resource box. the two variations work and will produce a 20% -30% CTR
