I Think E-bay is The Best for Making Money

I am in internet marketing since two to three years and have good success. In this period I tried many options to make money. At last I found that making money on E-bay is easy and less time consuming. E-bay is established auction site, buyers are ready there to buy, system is there... You have to just learn it and implement it. What other Warriors says? Can I have view on this?

I've been on Ebay then lost interest. The word is now that Amazon is the new rising star on the block. You don't pay for listing there. In my own personal experience their service to those they service is vastly superior Ebay.

e-bay is great for many things: finding out what is hot, doing research on how much something typically sells for and discovering what people are actually buying. their customer service isn't all that great though...

The ebay marketplace has changed. It is not as easy as before. No longer can you go to your local wholesaler and sell on ebay for good profits.

Years ago i started in the ebay business and was very profitable. The profits started to dwindle, i moved onto other projects and my brother took over my ebay business.

Today, my brother has sourced the best products, the best suppliers and the best prices and earns a high six figure income purely from his ebay business.

So with the right tools and products ebay can be a very very profitable business.

Being from Nigeria, it's difficult for me to market or sell anything with eBay but i hear it's a good place to make money, however i don't agree it's the easiest or best for making money. There are still other means of making money via the internet like selling or promoting quality digital products like ebooks and softwares.

    Hi,

To me, ebay is just a platform for me to collect prospect name list and will sell them my back end product.

    Hello,
it all depends on what you sell on ebay.
They have just changed the listing rates,I think for the better.
I am a top rated seller and I get better discounts on fees and a better placement on listings.
I have learned to play with ebay's rules and regulations as I do make money.

Yes it is possible to make a good living selling on eBay if:

      (1) Your market is not related to high competition markets eg: Digital Cameras,Laptops,Cell Phones etc. you will find it difficult to compete, make a good profit.
      (2) You make the product yourself eg: clothing
      (3) You have access to true wholesale suppliers, where your markup is big enough to cover ebay/paypal/shipping costs and still make good profit.
      (4) You are the first to start selling the latest gadget eg: you had 10 iPads to sell the day Apple released them, people will pay higher than retail price just to be the first to own them.
      (5) You discover an untapped market/niche where there is little competition, almost impossible.
      (6) You buy large lots on returned/liquidation auction sites, break them up and sell them individually on eBay (Risky, you never know exactly what you are going to get, unless you can inspect the lot, the lot descriptions are never accurate).

Anyway these are some of the hurdles i have encountered on eBay over the years.

PS! I agree customer service not the best around. And Amazon is a very good alternative.

      Cheers

I think a product targeted to my niche is the best for making money.

If the product happens to come from Amazon or Ebay, great. If it happens to come from Clickbank, great. If it happens to be a CPA Risk Free Trial, great...

The first thing is to find the niche, run a test to see if they are a buying niche, and then start working to choose the optimum product, whether as an affiliate or one you create.

Find an untapped market and you'll be a next millionaire. That is a full time job in its own. I tried eBay and realized it was not me making the profit. I couldn't compete with the importers. I am moving onto Amazon.

I import a very wide range of products, and I have a small warehouse. 2 Years ago, I would have told you eBay was the best all around. Now? Nope. Amazon all the way.

I don't even own shares in eBay any more. Even eBay as a business is trying to mold itself into becoming very similar to Amazon. If I didn't sell a high inventory (more than 2,000 items a week across 7 different account ID's, all of which are "powersellers" and most of which are "Top Rated") then I wouldn't be able to make what I do out of eBay... because I'm no longer a "little guy."

Amazon is great if you have an actual inventory. My sales are average and consistent, I don't pay anything until my item sells, and when I do sell something then its automatically deducted from the transaction which is less accounting work for me.

I still list things on eBay however, but I make more money and more sales through Amazon.

But how about Amazon fees 15%+???

Ok you don't pay upfront but you pay after sale. Still 15% is lot

      Thanks

I was waiting for someone to say this.

It really comes down to eBays 12% vs Amazons 15%. This took me a while to understand, but Amazon has simply better shoppers.

With Amazon, there is much less hassle for both buyers and sellers, Amazon has so much more trust with buyers, that its actually easier to sell higher priced items. Also, have you ever tried to set up any type of automation with eBay? With eBays changes in DSR's, feedback, telling me what I have to charge for shipping, I can't rely on eBay for the future nearly as much as I can with Amazon. That's worth the price difference.

Are you serious ? Ebay..... not at all. Not now for sure !!!!!!

I was working in a company, who were selling diamonds and engagement rings on ebay 6 years earlier. They were one of the top 4 ebay sellers in their niche. Around 5 years back, I would agree that ebay had a good market place for the buyers as well as for the sellers. However gradually among these years ebay has lost its touch.

Right now I can say amazon is better than ebay for selling stuff and making money.

I have stuck with Amazon, was rejected by eBay when I first started and have never tried again. If it works for you, that's all that matters. In my opinion, it's a great option for the used market, which is many niches, is BIG!

Ebay does have alot of potential in it but there is one other option with a very targeted niche and high traffic too: the WF forum's WSO forum and Warrior's product and services forum.

I think a lot of brick and mortar stores do well on eBay because they arleady have the infrustructure of retail in place. They have the suppliers, they usually already have a shipping department, and they already have a customer base.

The only thing I use eBay for anymore is to get rid of the junk in my house.

Wow... What a response! I can't believe it. Every one is expressing and sharing their views about E-bay. Some have good experience and some bad. I think if you have good product to sale and you apply right policy then you can be successful at E-bay. After all E-bay is one recognized source to make money. There may be some policy changes but we have to cope with it. I think every thing changes in the world so fast, they why not ebay?

You do realize I can rewrite your logic like this:

If you have a good product to sell, and you apply the right techniques, then you can be successful anywhere. After all the world is recognized as a good place to make money.

My statement is just as valid and viable as yours. As a simple matter of fact, my statement is better than yours, because it is not restrictive.

Ebay is still a huge buyer's marketplace. I've set up several small niche businesses there and sold them, which is another avenue to look at. If you can find a unique niche that makes money and is not overly saturated or if you can position yourself as the "go to" ebay person in that niche, you can build a business and sell it. Believe it or not, there are tons of people looking to start an ebay business and many of those will buy one instead.

I only use eBay now for classified ads.
I pay a small fee and get great exposure.
I can use the payment processor I choose

A lot of people are frustrated with eBay
myself included, however they still have a lot of visitors
who may read my advertisement so I haven't

I have used eBay for selling household junk that is not needed anymore and picking up some great domain name bargains. I have been trying to use it more commercially but can not just come up with the right product. I think it is still really good and established platform to sell once you got the right product.

I can only speak for UK but what happened with eBay is the perfect example of why most small businesses fail, they don't know how to adapt.

When eBay changed over to best match, things changed drastically. Everybody complained, everybody is still complaining and many sellers bailed out.

Those that watched closely, figured it out and stuck around realised that eBay has never been so profitable as it is now. You either changed with it or you didn't, most didn't.

Agreed, they are a PITA but you can still earn a ton of money, everyone is there to buy something. Getting yourself in front of those buyers is a lot easier than playing the Google game.

Ebay is great if we have physical products to sell, find a good source of products with the lowest price, because everyone buys at ebay are looking for the lowest prices over the marketplace. And also build good feedback there so people trust you and buy your products.

If you are not selling on eBay, you should consider their affiliate program....It's one of my fav together with adsense because you don't have to sell a product...You just make sure you can drive traffic to eBay. Yes, it's PPC model and you can get as much as 0.4 per click....

Eaby is just a sales channel. Most sales channels can be profitable. You need to do some work and find out how.

I actually LOVE the fact people say "You cannot make money on Ebay" - please keep saying it, I want all the sellers to leave so I can make great wads of cash!!!!!

Seriously it depends on a whole host of variables but yes you can make money

Personally I used to make a killing on ebay. I would literally go to my high street shops for phones, sat nav etc and just resell on ebay. I even had a totally legit way of getting £1000's worth of stock for free.

I have now given up ebay and just assist my partner now and then. I could not deal with the buyers anymore they just made me crazy as well as ebays rules. When they decided a seller could not leave feedback for a buyer that was the final nail in the coffin.

I have no doubt in my mind that whatever ebays rules are or whatever the state of the marketplace there will always be a way to make money on ebay, but its not for me !
